DJ Dave Turner - from a City called Salford in the North West of England that neighbours Manchester. The top soul club in 60’s Manchester was the 'Twisted Wheel'. The club is legendary alongside clubs like the 'Golden Torch' in Stoke, 'Blackpool Mecca' and 'Wigan Casino'.
Northern soul reached the peak of its popularity in the mid to late 1970s. At the time, there were soul clubs in virtually every major town in the North West of England and the Midlands.
