Hello, Irene, all.
Is this Frank X. O'Toole-era Speed the Plough?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm
Irene Trudel:

Ooh, Granny! I forgot about the fires in the SF Bay area. How is it by you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm
Irene Trudel:

Hi Sem! This STP track is brand new!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm
Sem:

Yeah, see that reading the music press. Thx!

Fire in the Belly -- to quote David Woynarowicz, Sam Keen, and, of course, Van Morrison.

doctorjazz:

Hi Irene and folks! How'd you like Sex Mob? I thought they were great (as did my crew)! Especially that ending medley: come Sunday/I Can See For Miles (what a choice)/My Bucket:s Got A Hole In It (I think)/Didn't He Ramble. Reminded me a bit of the Dead (yeah, no vocals, acoustic instruments, I know. But the way of playing inside, drifting outside, stringing the tunes together was very Dead-like to my ears). And isn't John Medeski a monster? Kind of beat today, but worth it all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm
doctorjazz:

And nice to get to meet you, mask and all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm
Irene Trudel:

Hey doctorjazz! It was great seeing you at the Sex Mob show last night. We really loved the show, and it was such a relaxed atmosphere that it almost felt like normal times. Great medley (and playing throughout)!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm
doctorjazz:

It really is a beautiful setting. My brother in law, who lives nearby, hadn't heard of it. And Jeff Conklin, who also lives in the area, hadn't heard of it either. Felt like the vacation I haven't been able to take. Oz Noy there next weekend, considering going again.

"Healing Is a Miracle" dropped on us all just when we needed it.

It's a gorgeous album, as one might expect from Julianna, james. Hi alanar!

I'm going to my first gig since February on Friday. so excited!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm
doctorjazz:

So do I Michael 98145. Was great to finally see one after all these months. Keeping my eyes peeled as well (especially this board).
I believe they can't actually charge an admission/music fee under the current COVID-19 rules. They had boxes out for the band, with a suggested donation (you could do it by credit card as well, added to the dinner bill). Hope the band did OK.

Beautiful show so far. I never knew this live comments existed! Listened in isolation from the main page and all this is going on over here! Still no gigs on the horizon here in Scotland. But what a wealth of wonderful music coming out at the moment. The Julianna Barwick has been getting heavy play in my hoose. Utterly beautiful.

Frank, marvellous, anyone get to see the excellent documentary ‘Eat That Question’?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm

Yes, Sean! I love that they didn't include narration-- just pure Zappa through film and TV clips. Must see IMO.

Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:18pm

I'll bet this group IS fun live
  2:19pm
Peter K.:

Sean, the "big name" director of that new Zappa movie is Alex Winter, better known as Bill of the "Bill & Ted" movies. Not exactly an auteur. I'm looking forward to it anyway, because I love Zappa. (And there's a new "Bill & Ted" movie about to be released. What year is this??)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm

Sylvia (France-NYC):

this place looks great, Irene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm
Irene Trudel:

Yes, Sylvia! I really hope more venues try for outdoor performances, although in NYC space is very limited. If any of you know of venues doing something similar, please pass it along. I'd be happy to announce them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm

I have a blues CD by Oz Noy (very jazz oriented), like it a lot.
Thanks, Irene, loved the show!
