  Swag For Life Member 9:03pm
WR:

Agreed on point that The Rutles are widely known. When visiting family recently, found that to be true. Several of them knew nothing of the Bonzos and little about the Pythons but felt The Rutles songs are great beyond being Beatles parody. Twas nice to find I had more in common with family than blood and penchant for beer and tequila.
  9:06pm
Carmichael:

Agree that, the more you know about the Beatles, the more you appreciate the Rutles. The minutiae of the humor is staggering.

Hi Gaylord! I’m loving this. One of my fondest show-related memories was when Glenn L. took me to see Neil Innes at the Highline Ballroom. Musta been 2010 or so. His on-stage demeanor was sweet and fun. When he played “Cheese and Onions” my eyes teared up I was so happy.

Thanks so much Gaylord and Ira.
I bought Gorilla just before Christmas '67 with my paper round money. I was amazed by the singer (Viv) who could sing in so many styles. Then wonder of wonders they were on the TV on Boxing Day in Magical Mystery Tour.
Subverting the pretensions of Pop music excited my fifteen year old self though ofcourse I would never have used those words then.

Great programme with some rarely heard songs that deserve a wider audience. (I think, though, that the song you identify as Song For Yvonne is actually This Love Of Ours)
