I just listened to a future episode where Eugor is described in a little more detail than normal. No spoilers, but: I think he might need more Fitch than suspected.

Austin Rich:

Aside from some cosmetic "clicks" and "pops," the sound on the original archive of this episode isn't bad, considering the bad shape that a lot of Rogue's Gallery episodes are in. Still, I did some audio separation between the voices and the backing sounds, and some very slight EQ to round out the audio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm

We've got a Death by Electrocution and a nosy religious father. Lot of noir tropes in 10 minutes, now that the femme fatal has arrived.

"I might give one to each."

Is that as dirty as I think it is?

Austin Rich:

I'm usually a little nervous to do too much noise reduction (if I can avoid it), as a lot of noise reduction tools can often sand off certain qualities in the rest of the audio for the show. (The voices can sound weird, or as if they are swallowing their consonants, the music can sound messed up, etc.) So unless the audio is already murky for other reasons, I try to do a little noise reduction as possible.

Violence on Radio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm

Oooof! I would not like to get a beating from Gerald Mohr, who also plays Phillip Marlowe on another radio show, and often gives / receives beatings on that show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm
Webhamster Henry:

I hope that guy gets a visit from Eugor...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm
Austin Rich:

↳ Webhamster Henry @9:19
Eugor is starting to get a little fan club. We'll have to write some Eugor fan-fiction when this show is over.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm
Austin Rich:

"And all and all."

That wasn't a skip in the record, either. After listening to a LOT of Dick Powell, I can confirm, he often repeats phrases like that. I think it's probably from reading off a script, and with limited rehearals before shows, as was often the case. But it sort of comes off like a part of Rouge's personality, since Powell does it often.

↳ Song: ""Red Stands For Blood"" by "The Adventures of Roc...
Compared to recent Rocky Jordan episodes, the sound is better than it has been. I did some improvements on this one, but not much. There's definately a disc / tape "hiss / drone" in the background that, whenever I would try to remove it, even subtle changes would sort of ruin the rest of the sound. So I didn't do much else.

Microfilm is such a perfect MacGuffin for a noir / spy story, as the contents never have to be very specific, but the stakes for finding / recovering it can be very high.

Hugo Gernsback was a publisher, and wrote a lot about radio and technology. His publications, because they were about technology, would occasionally publish science fiction, too. Some people consider Gernsback one of the grandfathers of Sci-Fi, even though he mostly wrote about current tech himself. Because he published Sci-Fi too, he's become an important figure.

The host of WFMU's "Blah Blah Woof Woof" (not on the current schedule) talks a lot about "The Prisoner". She's got a real Patrick McGoohan fixation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm
Austin Rich:

↳ David Shortell @10:25
I mean, he's a very compelling actor. He's good in other stuff, too! But I remember watching The Prisoner, and about 8 episodes in, realized that I was enjoying it so much, that I was sort of already sad I was gonna run out. So I haven't seen the last five episodes, and I plan to return to the show again when I'm older, so I have a surprise to look forward to. I forget stuff all the time, so I'm sure I'll enjoy watching it again, anyway. But it'll be nice to have that handful more or less unspoiled. (Though I have sort of gleaned what happens, unfortunately, but I'm sure they will still be enjoyable, even with "mild" spoilers.)
