Sun. Dec 22nd, 3pm - 5pm:
The Unsolicited Return of the Winter Soul-stice (fill-in for Paul Bruno)
(More info...)
You can't stop the seasons from turning, and you evidently also can't stop an old dog from performing his one old trick. Answering the teeming clamor of one New York Times food columnist
, Gaylord Fields is returning to WFMU's airwaves for a one-off Winter Soul-stice program. In his time away he's learned nothing, so the format will remain the same: two hours of original 1960s soul 45s, and the abuse of an expensive reverb machine for the sake of corny vocal effects.

Hi all-Happy New Year!
Got most of the way through the Bee Gees doc this afternoon (at the Disco Sucks part where their career tanks) I'm enjoying it (also in the middle of a Hollies doc-i tend to watch until my exercise is done)
It IS just one damned thing after another! Hi Gaylord and all!
8:33pm
bigplanetnoise:
The blast wasn’t really by us, but it sure knocked out all phones, internet, everything, across parts of a few states. We just got in the car yesterday and drove to our pad in Florida. Crazy, crazy stuff.
The blast woke me up! I got my phone service back last night...it was a strange Christmas. The destruction downtown is really bad...that guy knew what he was doing, sadly.
Gina - motive behind it is still the big question. Just rotten to do it on Christmas Day, and damage countless buildings in the process. Warning people away doesn't excuse it at all.
It sure is. In my mind I go back and forth between Morricone, Piccioni, and Umiliani a lot, though they're all instantly identifiable. Piccioni sure loved his organ stabs.
It was part of a conceit, Gaylord. It was a set, wherein every singer had been a cast member in the original NY run of Hair (not all opening night cast members). Both Alessis were.
@Little Danny: I love love love everything about that song.

just one damned thing after another...thought you were going to do a "Damned" tribute...anyways...I'm part of your fan club...I always feel the pain...I'm so messed up...but I feel alright...I just can't be happy today...but you always smash it up...Gaylord Fields Forever
@Gaylord Fields I'm learning a new piece of software that should help me write more efficiently. Right now, just a political planning document. But at some point, book and or screenplay. I needed to do this.
University Challenge makes me think of the Young Ones... with or without The Damned...

Gaylord...I met you a few years ago at a party...listened to you all the time...thought you were an older white cat who knew music...I was shocked when I met you and saw you were Japanese...who knows ...life is filled with the unexpected...
Good Evening, Gaylord and Skeletons and Everyone!
oooooo SEANCE!
lovely tunes/energy, Gaylord!
been kinda under the weather lately, FMU has been my constant companion :)
thank you so much for these exceptionally *healing* vibes!
Thanks Gaylord for tonight's show and all the shows this mixed up year. Weekly elevation was grounding if that makes sense. Take care all. All the best in the new year.
According to my father, whenever Don't let the sun catch you crying would come on when I was very young, I would start crying.
Gerry and the Pacemakers has always resonated I guess.
@Gaylord: Lovely show! Just what I needed to end the week, and the year. I'm hoping next year will be a lot better for all of us.
Thank you Scott, Olivia, Ruth and all of the other skelletons!
