Never saw Toots & The Maytals live. Have the early records. Heard a few concert recordings over the years and the man was such a loving force.

Howdy, WR!

Chris Farrell:

Toots and Maytals were recommended to me when I wanted to dive into reggae music and they unfortunately were as deep as I got but that music is great for hours. An uber driver I had played reggae the whole ride and it was great.

Electric in the blood! I love the title

Baseballers play through the pain (a joke). I’m not really a baseball fan anymore, not really a football fan either. Team sports in general aren’t my favorite, some though are alright! Like college basketball has its time, and ultimate frisbee is something I’m actively pursuing to get in to. I like to be active, pickle ball, golf, a brisk walk, running, calisthenics in general are good for me these days. Anything to stop the madness and train the mind ;)!

I tried to get into NASCAR after my sport interests fell off and that was not the right turn. Wendel Scott was an interesting story and his adversity. Televised golf and tennis are my go to sports to watch. Maybe sand volleyball too.

I thought about living in the wilderness and being a field tracker. Essentially developing my own narrative of the terrain of the world and attempting to only be unique. It left me with ample rice..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm
doctorjazz:

I got to see Toots once, years back, quite a performer. I was actually surprised at his appearance-somehow the deep, growly voice conjured up the image of someone very large. He turned out to be slim, svelt, handsome,v quite a stage presence.
  11:18pm
Chris Farrell:

Given some comments Toots is the name of one of the performers? Fascinating, couldn’t ever really figure out where toots came from. Common sense led me to a fart, but with the caliber of music they were it had to be something deeper. I’m gonna wiki-search then right quick (post sending a comment of my thoughts on the situation lol)
  11:19pm
Chris Farrell:

Oh wow he died recently. RIP. Great musician
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm
StringOFperils:

Toots Hibbert, R.I.P. Reggae itself fades into history a little.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21pm
doctorjazz:

Of Toots and the Maytals, begat reggae with Bob Marley and some others.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm
doctorjazz:

OK, just finished tag correcting my rip of the Mosaic Django Reinhardt box. Tedious, but done.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm
Sam Segal:

Those Mosaic boxes can be tough to organize digitally.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27pm
doctorjazz:

Sending it out, any interest, Sam? Anyone else?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm

Cool set!
🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:29pm
WR:

Yes doctorjazz, ya know I'm in. TIA
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm
Sam Segal:

Thanks, Doc! I actually already have a digital version of that set. I ripped it from my dad's collection many years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm
StringOFperils:

Laptop battery AND my battery, drained. Gotta go B4 the end, but sincere thanks, Sam, you and the horse you rode in on!
  11:35pm
Chris Farrell:

Cultural differences of the use of music is kind of fascinating, like this song sort of lays ground for going ons that occur and adds an ambiance. Someone like Bob Dylan sort of puts imagery of an event or story. Different utilities, I love it

If I incorporate volume levels and language differences into the idea, then I’m really going on a ride lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm
Sam Segal:

Thanks for stopping by, String!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm

dr.j i could use more Django in my life, if you're in the business
Thanks!

You can day that again...:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:42pm
doctorjazz:

Coel, didn't know if you were up for it, you're on
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm
coelacanth∅:

i've only dabbled, doc. never disliked any Django i've heard.
if this is a huge set you could send just part of it. don't know if that'd be any easier...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm
chresti:

I like Django too.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:51pm
WR:

Thank you for this segment featuring Steve Dalachinsky. Still hard for me to think of him as was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54pm

Coel, by nature I'm an obsessive completist. Can't chop up the baby (you obviously can use it however works for you).
Chresti-was sending out a box set of Django music over the intranets. If you'd like a set, contact me from the FMU page.
