Thanks Kim and Chresti!
Eastern European night (like mama used to make) at Chez Doctorjazz-Stuffed Cabbage, Cholent (a beef, bean and potato stew), and kishka (basically a loaf of flour and chicken fat with some add ins), and a shotof schnapps! Now waiting for a baked cake (been kicked out for final prep).

Sounds awesome!
Makes me miss Hamtramck.

Doug Schulkind:

Just jumping on. Black Jazz is beautiful, Kim!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm
KimSorise:

Oh wow! Which ones do you have? This is my collection and I have Adam's Apple as well but I could find it this morning - but it is my least favorite of Carn's BJR recordings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm
KimSorise:

Hi Doug! Hope you are well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04pm
KimSorise:

Anyone listen to the Stevie Wonder birthday DJ jam last week?
It was cool, Gilles Peterson's set was bonkers and so was some of DJ Spinna's set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm
doctorjazz:

Is Black Jazz Records a reissue label? Not familiar with them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm
KimSorise:

It was a label built by Gene Russell in production from 1971-1975 in Oakland, California.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
doctorjazz:

Never mind, just found a link about them

"An introduction to Black Jazz in 10 records" thevinylfactory.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09pm
KimSorise:

It was one of the first black owned jazz labels
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm
doctorjazz:

They do sound good to this audio nerd.
Avatar 8:12pm
northguineahills:

I must confess, I'd have to look through my recs to see which ones I have (I haven't seen my recs in 9 months), but I know I don't have any of the one's pics (I only have 2 or 3).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm
doctorjazz:

I see this album starting about $100 on the usual sites (Discogs and Amazon)

Don't forget, the Cabbage might make you sleepy, Doc?... the night is young!!!..:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15pm
KimSorise:

Well NGH - if they are in good shape and you're even thinking about parting with them - i'd certainly be interested, as I am sure many would
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm
KimSorise:

Is that rude to say?
I am sorry if it is. . . sincerely.
  8:17pm

Yeah...groovy tunes, Kim!!!
Avatar 8:18pm
northguineahills:

I haven't sold a record since 1998... (and I regretted it)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm
doctorjazz:

I see reissue CDs, and even a reasonable FLAC (said to be remastered), but the vinyl on the Rudolph Johnson is pretty dear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm
KimSorise:

I am the same way - so not worries at all, NGH.

Hola, KS and Globals....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm
StringOFperils:

I don't own any of this, but I did use to haunt large and small record stores throughout the 70s-90s, and remember these, they being, in my mind, related, in idea at least, to Chicago's AACM collective: a sort of self-identifying/empowering enterprise out of I don't know. The cover photos are striking. That period yielded a lot of good music like this. Makes me think of Arista-Freedom series as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm
KimSorise:

I have had it for quite some time docjazz.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm
