Hello Kim and all Global listening. Yes, remembrances for Danny Ray Thompson appreciated and meditated. He joined the Arkestra early and continued steadfast on the voyage.

My daughter told me someone posted, it's a cross between a snow day and 911.

Yeah doc, here its like after an earthquake
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm
doctorjazz:

I just googled, boo Jen mention of him passing on the initial links.
Saw The Arkestra many times in the 80s and 90s, what a trip! (There was a period of time they were all over NYC, jazz clubs, punk rock clubs, you name it)

John from Florham park:

@Melinda how are things in Maine?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm
KimSorise:

Louisville is shut down - schools, bars, restaurants, libraries, YMCA, restrictions on grocery shopping etc.

Greetings Melinda and Chresti

John from Florham park:

@Kim here in jersey they have not gone that far with the shopping YET
🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:38pm
WR:

Interesting to know Kim. I guess that will soon be in effect in most if not all US cities The news is coming so fast hard to keep up with situation in everywhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm
KimSorise:

And. . . they just Postponed the Kentucky Derby until September.
  7:40pm
John from Florham park:

@WR all those people hoarding TP did not help matters
@Kim damn that sinks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm
doctorjazz:

The supermarkets in the town near us has implemented restrictions, people 55 and early shop in the morning, then people with names starting with A through L shop even days M through Z on odd days. Town ordinance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm
Doug Schulkind:

Hello dreamers and streamers! Big air hug to all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm
doctorjazz:

Yesterday, not only was the paper goods shelves all empty (not just TP), but all the sugary cereals were gone (Kashi remained) and BAGEL BITES were all gone. Just evil!
  7:45pm
John from Florham park:

Thanks Doug, BTW thanks for getting ahold of Ken when the main stream went down
🥁 Swag For Life Member 7:48pm
WR:

My local store was out of TP, bread, and much produce, pasta and dairy was in short supply. The store sent out email saying they hope to be restocked in a day or two. Wondering how that will work out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm
Doug Schulkind:

@John from Florham park.
I heard it go down. And the work I was doing on the server crashed simultaneously. So I was all over it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
KimSorise:

Well at least all the record stores in town are shop by appointment! I love this idea.
  7:50pm
John from Florham park:

@Doug the strange part was the internet streams were still going strong
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm

Time to bike, check inn later
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm

But I have lost so much gig money over the last week - I won't be buying; I'll just be getting reacquainted with some of my own stock
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm

@Kim that sucks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm

@WR I got a similar email saying my store would close at 6 and only be open 2-6 tomorrow. Weird times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm
doctorjazz:

Don't worry, outdoors yesterday, but stationary bike tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:54pm
melinda:

Also my credit union just went to ATM only, and I haven't used one in over 10 years. I'll have to call for my PIN.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
KimSorise:

It's unfortunate, yes. But I am very fortunate that my school is paying us to work from home the best we can - so it could be so very much worse. I do need the DJ in come but some of it is gravy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
KimSorise:

Oh jeez - my bank went drive thru / ATM only as well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
Doug Schulkind:

@John from Florham park
The streams represent a wonderful option for WFMU in a crisis. Back during Hurricane Sandy, when WFMU was knocked off the air, the Drummer Stream took the mantle and became the locus of WFMU's programming for a while.
  7:55pm
John from Florham park:

@Doctor jazz in 5 minutes we are going on a curfew
  7:57pm
John from Florham park:

@Doug I heard about that, well as long as the internet streams and the chat can hold up I think we will be ok
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm
melinda:

@John here in Portland business closures are voluntary but many have closed, as have all city buildings. I don't know about schools.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:58pm
melinda:

@Kim I feel like a freak not knowing my own PIN.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm

@Melinda all the schools bars restraunts and casinos in the tristate area are closing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm

We did our first day of online school with K-12; it was fairly smooth. It can only get better.

Greeting CoelacanthO! Welcome
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm
melinda:

I hope all these closures and restrictions have the intended effect.
  8:01pm
John from Florham park:

One of the best things about WFMU is all the teachers I have gotten to know on here
  8:01pm
John from Florham park:

@Melinda me too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03pm
KimSorise:

I second that emotion @Melinda.

That's very cool - I think the profession requires us to maintain outside creative stimulation. If you don't, it can be a tough career to maneuver emotionally
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04pm
Andrew Waterloo:

I just worry that people will be complacent when everything opens up again
  8:04pm
John from Florham park:

Kim you have to love kids
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
melinda:

@Andrew yeah, and I wonder how they will decide when it's safe. From what I can tell the CDC guidelines are pretty weak and cities are winging it, trying to be proactive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
Andrew Waterloo:

They need to establish a testing regime
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
KimSorise:

Umm - yes and no @John. I like teenagers - I like talking with teens and getting them outside their comfort zones cognitively.I like helping kids become better problem solvers and critical thinkers etc. But love kids, not so much my thing but I think I appreciate young folks.
  8:11pm
John from Florham park:

Ok Kim I gotcha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm
melinda:

@Andrew yes. I think what might seem like extreme measures (all the closings) make sense in the absence of a well-crafted tracking and testing regime like they've done elsewhere.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 8:22pm
WR:

Kim you are sending out sounds that help calm and focus me. Earlier today I was going off unnecessarily on fellow tech when he didn't initially understand my directions. He just knocked me off our shared remote server and I just IMed him to let me know when he is finished, meanwhile listening and chilling for a few minutes and writing this boring irrelevant comment to all ya'll.
  8:24pm
CC:

Hi Kim and all... can't recall hearing any reports about how Russia is faring with the virus???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24pm
KimSorise:

@WR Glad I could be of assistance- this i what I have to offer. Been keeping it as mellow as I can. A little worried for the unknown and this is something I can control. Breathe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24pm

Hey CC

Hmmm...sure does WR???

The World's Experience Orchestra tune is a good groove. Looked it up and only see mention of the bassist composer leader. Kim, do you know of a source of more details on the recording? Maybe CD liner notes
🥁 Swag For Life Member 8:47pm
WR:

Again, thank you Kim for the Global Grease.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm
