@Handy I replaced my relatively newer turntable with an older but better model I found at Goodwill for $12 on Senior Day. The stereo I have in my office is 100% thrifted and sounds better than the unit I have in my living room.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:02pm
Handy Haversack:

I am trying to imagine finding a working turntable in a Brooklyn thrift store and how much damage the collapsing vacuum would cause when it was snatched away at relatavistic speeds!
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:03pm
Phillippe Bastille:

I found a couple prep things that have led to a quicker, tastier egg salad: peel the egg by putting it in your martini shaker with about an inch of water. Give it a few shakes and the egg literally falls out of the shell. Then use a potato ricer on the eggs instead of chopping them up.

And that's my Jacques Pepin moment of the day

Dang, Phillippe -- that's some ingenuity.

We have an un-hooked-up and so of unknown workingness turntable, but all the components are currently disassembled. We just need to figure out how to make it work in a very small apt. with six mammals in it. We'll get it together one day. If there were but world enough, and time.

I mean, we're just trying to keep the building standing and giving you great radio, not like we're trying to build a damn monorail around the ceiling the place like they had in department stores back in the 40s and 50s for kids to ride around in and stare down at the toy departments

Strange, I have been hanging around the comment boards at the same time as granny spicy tuna, I really can not believe this has not happened during dark night of the soul. granny smith tuna sounds like a winner of a nickname, though this week the best nicknames have been honski de boiski-based (honski de boiski was how keith richards described the polish-spoken announcements of the stones' warsaw debut gig in the 60s). but anyway, I am indeed a listener from Finland.

funny how magyar (hungarian) language is indeed a relative of finnish though they sound nothing like each other (there are some similar words though).
