@John I haven't used Spotify in years. Seriously, if I can't find something live to listen to on FMU or the streams I'm finding stuff on the archives. I've been really expanding my listening to beyond the melodic music and getting into the stuff Bryce, Jesse Kaminski, and others of that ilk play. Lotsa archives there to explore.

Phillippe Bastille:

Funny story: I was in the kitchen the other day cooking and listening to a Neighbors Noise archive when my son brought his new girlfriend over -- I had only met her once. She started looking around the room for the source of the sounds, kind of perplexed. They had a nice little giggle on the way out of the kitchen as my son explained how weird his dad is.

Julie, can you run an aux line from your computer/tablet/phone to your stereo? They make adapters if the stereo doesn't have a dedicated aux jack that uses the smaller cables

Speaking of the Grammys, how about Tyler, the creator's performance. I was oddly moved by it.
Avatar 🦇 Swag For Life Member 1:58pm

Neutral I guess. Good because moving relatively frequently keeps you agile and not ruled by your posessions, but damn, it can be stressful
Avatar 🦇 1:59pm

Oh man. I never get tired of Pink Floyd. I still remember the first time I heard them. Like you, The Wall was the first album I was introduced to. I still fondly think back to spending time with my aunt an uncle as a kid. They had a room full of shelves and boxes with hundreds of records. There is no doubt that my eclectic taste in music and appreciation for genres no one my age appreciated was directly from spending time with them listening to albums with them.
Avatar 🦇 2:06pm

wow, that is really nice. The most interesting thing my folks had was Peter Paul & Mary. At least my sisters had some Three Dog Night and Steppenwolf.
  2:07pm

I think this is one of several reasons why I enjoy tuning in here. My aunt Julie is where I really feel my love of music began. How appropriate I tune in to listen to another Julie to further my tastes and appreciation of music.

My earliest preteen memories of music involved going to relative's houses - parties, etc., and just listening to their records on headphones. So much more interesting than the records we had at our house.

Mom was too late to easily run out to the West Coast and hear bands like Airplane and the Doors live, but I know she wished she had. She had Surrealistic Pillow and Santana's Abraxas vinyls alongside the cast recordings for classic Broadway shows.
