Hearing that, I can just see the doors swinging shut on Don Adams. And I hear that tune whenever I go down a hall with multiple doors directly on it.

Micro Septet is always welcome. Was lucky enough to see them back when that album was out. "Let's Flip" is another great album of theirs.

anyone here fans of Ben Katchor? dude's a genius right? haven't thought about him in a while, but man..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm

I read 'V' for the first time earlier this year. Hi Irwin, hi everyone. Keep cool, but care.
  3:56pm
Listener Robert:

So what brought him to mind, SeanG? Something cartoon-related?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm
Phillippe Bastille:

I did the same kind of decade-long read with House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski, not necessarily because I loved it but because it was a very difficult reading experience, particularly for a slow reader like me. I eventually lost the book and never finished. I like his sister's music quite a bit (Poe)

I can't help wondering if one of those online lyrics sites has the lyrics to Eduard Khil's Trololo Song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm
Parq:

Ben Katchor collaborated with Mark Mulcahey on a series of operas based on stories similar to those in his strips. I got to see two of them, one about a guy who installs a restaurant coat-check room in his home, and another about a young employee in the tragically cash-strapped NYPL of the mid-70s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm
Irwin:

I'd like to hear more Eduard. Does he have records? Anyone check?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm

Laura, there is a lyric page for Daft Punk's "Oh Yeah". Yeah.

I once had Wayne shorters juju in my car during a very stressful time. It was over a year with nothing else in the player. It wasn’t something I felt I was choosing. It was like an adaptation.
  4:26pm
Carmichael:

Heya Irwin and homies. I am at home doing home things. Currently, dishes. Better with Shorter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm
Irwin:

Carm: I like washing dishes by hand. It's a gratifying task. Granted I don't have to wash dishes for ten, but I don't want an appliance that handles the job.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm
Irwin:

The Old Codger was asked by a female staffer what he wanted for Christmas. He gave a puff on his Rancho Malario cigar, and muttered, "I need a doormat and a dishwasher. Which do you want to be?"
  4:36pm
Listener Robert:

That's why we haven't heard from The Old Codger lately: He'd be drowned out by Ken's lunk alarm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm
Irwin:

He's sittin' out in his poutin' shanty, irritated, waiting for the phone to ring.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm

Washing my own dishes is like a sort of meditation. Washing other people's dishes, less so.

I’ve heard about this attitude. The way the WFMU folks swagger into the public radio conferences. Jersey-spread themselves all over the proceedings.

Not making it up!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm

There is a tendency to sneer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm

There is a predilection for having strong opinions about what constitutes "good" music. But isn't that universal?

hi, Irwin and folks. i once met a guy outside a coffee shop. i was wearing the black tee with WFMU on it (i call it the WFMU Devo-tee, get it?). anyway, he said are you with WFMU, and i said, yes, i've been donating to WFMU for years. i always wondered if he thought i was saying i was staff. at any rate, we got into a conversation about what might be considered a WFMU attitude - no matter how obscure, ya gotta embrace it. knowing the back stories of all sorts of bands, albums and tracks and general music snobbery, of sorts. i completely disagreed with him and said all that was just love and obsession. takes all kinds, i guess.
