Sun. Dec 22nd, 3pm - 5pm:
The Unsolicited Return of the Winter Soul-stice (fill-in for Paul Bruno)
(More info...)
You can't stop the seasons from turning, and you evidently also can't stop an old dog from performing his one old trick. Answering the teeming clamor of one New York Times food columnist
, Gaylord Fields is returning to WFMU's airwaves for a one-off Winter Soul-stice program. In his time away he's learned nothing, so the format will remain the same: two hours of original 1960s soul 45s, and the abuse of an expensive reverb machine for the sake of corny vocal effects.
@Highway: Thank you so much for the kind words. And I agree that CR certainly ended his career on a high note. That album is a coalescence of every musical direction he mastered.
Were all Richer for your show Gaylord...happy birthday Peter Sellers...check him out as he recites A Hard Days Night...in the style of Shakespeare's Richard III..
Wendy, I am not surprised. (I should take this moment to point out to the listeners that this is not a true story that Joe Bataan is sharing. Just a harrowing urban opera.)
@ Wendy -- again, same here!
what a fantastic show, Gaylord -- Chic's "At Last I Am Free" especially, REALLY smoothing out the *STRESS* of doing tedious and depressing work right now -- THANK-YOU!!!
