Franco Twinkie:

When we heard about Peter this morning we were making Tamales and filling them with squash, tomatos, and cheese. The only time I every missed The Monkees is once in the 1968 season because I would not eat my squash, tomato, and cheese casserole, and my father said your not leaving the table till you clean your plate. He relented during Laugh-In. I guess I won, or did I?

Somebody mentioned the "Space Cowboy." Does anybody know what the Space Cowboy WFMY DJ is up to now? I used to really like his show.

@Franco Twinkie -- WOW! similar story: NEVER missed The Monkees EXCEPT for the one time my younger sister and i had to be at our Aunt Sophie's house (do not recall what my parents had to do??) -- she PROMISED my DAD that we could watch The Monkees (added bonus -- she had a color TV!!!) -- BUT, when the show was about to come on, her son (my much older Cousin Billy) just had to watch some dumb old football game (maybe THAT is why i have never liked spectator sports???) -- when my Dad found out, he felt horrible -- and he ended up buying The Monkees' first LP for me -- NOT because i was some spoiled brat who was throwing temper tantrums (my Depression era parents would NEVER stand for that!) BUT because his sister (Aunt Sophie) had broken her promise

Cosmic Cowboy would have some weird, spacey music as his bed, and he would talk over it with a echo effect on his voice.

Ok, that was unexpectant, I have a phone interview w/ the NYC OEM, I've been firing off so many job applications here in FL and NYC I lost track, mostly to fulfill the draconian unemployment requirements in this purple state.

Yeah, I remember the Cowboy's echo thing. He used it a lot on 40 Acres and a Turntable, or whatever it was called, too. The opening song was this high-lonesome story-song about meeting a cosmic cowboy. I've never been able to find it. Maybe it was an original?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm
coelacanth∅:

he had Don Walzer as a guest once, which seemed like an odd thing to me, but Don rolled with it with a great sense of humour and there was no echo on Don's voice, as i remember. he played an excellent version of long black veil - a song i love anyway.
Don died not long after.

Slugluv, That was very noble of your Pa. You were the clearly the victim of someone else's selfish whims. I on the other hand was just pulling some trip. most likely I had seen a Berkeley sit-in on tv, and wanted to see if I could get what I wanted been a refusenik.
