good afternoon everyone.

MacGuffin:

Wild Neil, by the time such climaxic scenes occur, the macguffin has long since been forgotten. You knew that.
Avatar 3:17pm
MacGuffin:

(Is climaxic a word? What did I mean? You knew what I meant.)
Avatar 3:19pm
Wild Neil:

"Climactic" is what I knew you meant. Still, its cool to know that you are....here...at WFMU. Where else would you be, right?
Avatar 3:21pm
Wild Neil:

Suicide reminds me of the "Me and my Rhythm Box" from the movie Liquid Sky...the darker side of New Wave....although I understand they started earlier than that....
Avatar 3:21pm
MacGuffin:

What, then, is the adjective for things related to the climate?
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 3:21pm
JtotheK:

The 'Hitchcock by Truffaut' book goes into quite a bit of detail about the MacGuffin...good read!
Avatar 3:22pm

Oh, I know...'climatic'!

No, AW, 'meteorologic' is to 'weather' as 'climatic' is to 'climatic' as 'climactic' is to 'climax'...or should that be orgasmic?

ENOUGH!

Goatpuncher:

Ha ha, Aphex Twin, really? Is that one completely unrecognizable and seemingly perhaps not actually related to the original (as with Aphex Twin's remixes)?
Avatar 3:49pm
V Priceless:

apparently Vega was inspired to start a band after seeing The Stooges at the New York State Pavilion, on the grounds of the '64 Worlds Fair in Flushing (which I think was Iggy's first NY gig, in '70)...for those locals familiar with this totally alien-looking structure, which still stands, and is the subject of an excellent documentary called "Modern Ruin", it must have been a really cool & freaky place to see a rock & roll show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm

@V-Priceless: no kidding! I've seen photos, never visited.

His singing is like a kind of electronic shamanism;incantatory.
It's dark but beautiful and strangely pure. Never knew about him till this week and I'm finding his music compelling and singular.

There was a band from Norway called Gäte (note the umlaut) in the 00's. Art school kids making kind of like, heavy Radiohead type stuff. Not bad. This is decidedly different but I like it.

This reminds me of Charles Dodge's "Any Resemblance Is Purely Coincidental," with JLL substituted for Enrico Caruso.
  5:16pm
Dean:

..."this" being the Trythall. This, on the other hand (being the Aaron Martin), reminds me of Ingenting Kollektiv.
  5:20pm
Dean:

"Any Resemblance..." was '78, hence the substitution runs in the other direction. I suspect Dodge, too, was composing with razor blades.
