this sounds a lot like the thing that was at the armory, but maybe everything Ryoji Ikeda does sounds like that.

Heya Kurtie Boy. Hi everyone. Happy Friday!

hi everyone! twitter tortune at 4. you can start tweeting to #radio to give adachi material.

Yes, yes, yes.

paula pc:

i'm extremely digging this. without the non-English accent, I'm not sure it would work
Avatar 3:55pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

ha! more accents to come!
  4:03pm
Listener Oscar:

I think that an interesting side effect to using such a simple dictionary word as #radio for the hashtag could be that spam bots jump onto it very quickly.
  4:12pm
paula pc:

yes! accents make everything better!!! Kurt, I thought that BEFORE I saw your post above. this is so liberating -- thank you, Tomomi! it's not just the accent that is making this great, of course

Ice King Enterprises:

@Steve: Obsessive Merzbow fetishists? No, wait, it'd need more static for that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm
Andrew Waterloo:

The question is, if you got that sound trying to play a Merzbow track, how long would it be before you noticed something was wrong?

joeZ:

Does anyone know if Wreckless Eric is actually playing live Sat. night? No one can figure out what "Featuring music from Wreckless Eric" really means...
Avatar 4:27pm
Kurt Gottschalk:

he will be here live, yes.
Avatar 4:29pm

Oh, I heard about this new release yesterday!
  4:29pm
joeZ:

great! :)
  4:30pm
Listener Oscar:

I recommend V/Vm's cover of Sexual Healing, called Sexual Rehealed. Slightly less loopy and oscillating than the mistake track Kurt's Spotify spat out, but no less irritating/lovely.
  4:31pm
P-90:

Ahhh... Dusty.
Avatar 4:35pm

Who doesn't love Dusty... Lovely.
Avatar 4:38pm

She does a couple of songs on a Carole King demo compilation. They're as amazing as this last song.

yeah, it's been awful quiet in here today...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm

The boards are quiet because who could compete with the vocal artistry we've been hearing? Not me, not even in black-out babble mode.
Or so I have not heard *l*

Tomomi was so good. i apparently saw him once in 2010, and was impressed but had no idea who he was, and instantly recognized his style like 5 seconds into his first set just now. aha moment. good stuff.

Listener Oscar:

I'm enjoying hearing this digitally cleaned up "Room" without the crackles I'm used to on the LP version.

I know that he wanted to smooth out his stutter, but I wonder if Lucier had already tried the process before pressing record or if this was take #1
Avatar 5:37pm

its not bad actually
liked it MUCH better this time for some reason
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm
Sem Chumbo:

Now getting to that sound of a shortwave broadcast that is kinda, sorta, maybe like English, and you strain to make out the words, but f*c* it, not going to happen. Like the room tone in Limbo, preventing understanding what is going on. Or something.
  5:39pm
Listener Oscar:

Yes, and the high pitched parts start to resemble morse code over a radio signal too.

...if you play elektric gittar, & enjoy feedback - you get to know Room Dynamics quickly: a little tilt in direction here or there makes the difference between a lovely in-key howling sustain or a horrible hearing-damaging screech. That of course was late60s~early70s - now every schmuck w/ a computer is modeling Room Dynamics...
