@Julie: Does Kate hate flying? That would be a prob for us N. Americans...

Avatar 4:19am

Hi MK! :)

She wouldn't *look* out of place in MBV, or *sound* out of place? Or both, perhaps!
Avatar 🦇 4:19am
Julie:

I think so, Matt! Re: Kate..there was talk when she was younger that she would take the QE2 here. I think she came to do signing for Hounds and that's it beyond the SNL appearance. Also with the kind of production she puts on, it'd be insane.

Kate hasn't toured since '79 and even then only for a six week UK run.

well if Patti Smith could mix it with the mbv sound; It would be interesting to hear Kate?

Avatar 4:23am

  4:23am
?:

Good Morning Julie, Matt, and everyone on both sides of the pond. I couldn't score tickets for Kate when they went on sale, and I refused to deal with the scalpers. Now tickets are starting to occasionally turn up online from folks that lucked out the day (the hour!) they went on sale, and can't get to London after all... But it's too late for me to arrange my scedule around a trip there, so I'm in the same boat as far as hoping the East End shows are a hit and and lead to a US tour or at least some NY dates.

Avatar 4:25am

Agree Julie! A Lost Patrol feel for sure.
It's a little touch that makes a great difference! A little "twang", a little "Celtic" sound (think Big Country turning ancient patterns into guitar rock).
  4:26am
coalhard:

Thank you Arc Waves !
Avatar 4:29am
Matt from Springfield:

Hiya, ? !
I'm willing to fly over to England if she does another concert series, kind of busy right now (I'm going elsewhere in Europe in October on important business, so fun for me anyway! ;), but I'd make a serious effort to get tix if Kate does something again.

What would you name a unit of television binging? (Don't say "Season")
  5:09am

@ Matt: I'm lucky I don't get that channel, I'd turn it on just to see where they're up to in the chronology and maybe watch one episode, and wind up losing half a day....or more
Avatar 5:12am
Matt from Springfield:

@Elwyn: Binge session, I would name "solid day" (as a season's worth of DVD/Netflix episodes will usually several hours but less than 24). Plus fans who binge watch seem to do it ALL day, not a "waking day" but a "solid day"!

@P-90: It's how I spent most of my weekend off! :) They were @ 2003 earlier this evening, prob onto 2004/5 early today.

Matt from Springfield:

Oh, here's the answer:

"Bryter Layter was meant to be a little poke at BBC weather forecasters at the time, who would often refer to the weather as "cloudy now, but brighter later." Nick added the "y's" for visual effect.

Not sure of the exact source of my knowledge... I know I've read it a number of times over the years. This page is one example, although I know I've read it a few times froma few different sources: www.algonet.se... (look it up under 'B')
Also, for guitar fans... This page includes tunings and tabs, all worked out by one quite obviously insane and incredible man. Practice, practice, practice and then practice some more and you'll be able to play 'em all no problem! "

Makes sense! I always said "Brighter Later", seemed to fit with Nick's melancholic waxing, like: "it will be brighter...later."
Also that Swedish site is a treasure trove of Nick articles, looking for those tabs now!
