Just saying, Julie.

it's an offbeat Monday morning this week at FMU
  4:10am
SAL:

I don't buy CD'S anymore because I have Several Music Services on various platforms.

As per Copyright Rules, and Regulations per the Napster Case of 15 years ago, I hope that UMG/UNIVERSAL LTD, decides to re-release the album with Eyes of the Stranger soon.

until then can you only what you are authorized to play (in other words you can not use a third-party service over the airwaves because of the above-mentioned reason).
  4:11am
P-90:

Haven't heard Sarah B.'s version of this --very nice

P-90:

Did you know that "Gloomy Sunday" is also known as "The Hungarian Suicide Song?"
Avatar 🦇 4:16am
Julie:

does that mean there are hungarian lyrics?
  4:18am
SAL:

julie, I know that, what I was saying is that you can't use a third-party music service over the air.

sorry for confusing you.
  4:18am
SAL:

how was TX?
Avatar 🦇 4:19am
Julie:

third-party music service as in spotify?
Avatar 🦇 4:19am
Julie:

And I think it's a shame you don't buy CD's, the artists make more money from them and all the shops will close.
  4:22am
P-90:

Oh yes, the original lyrics are in Hungarian. Then during WWII a recording was made with alternate Hungarian lyrics that made it a "war song." Billie Holliday made the song famous in English; Paul Robeson had recorded it first. Interesting that black gospel/blues singers discovered it first over here
Avatar 🦇 4:25am
Julie:

I would like to hear Olivia sing it..but then that's just me :)
Avatar 4:27am

I may have to make a trip to Las Vegas to see Olivia's show.

Third party Music service such, as Rhapsody, Slacker, Google Music

I use paid versions NOT FREE versions.
  4:33am
P-90:

I'd love to see Olivia's Vegas act.
DJ Julie: you scored tickets for Kate Bush?
Avatar 🦇 4:33am
Julie:

I would think everything they play would be legal and thus useable for airplay
Avatar 🦇 4:34am
Julie:

Yes p-90 allegedly. I've been charged but I never got an email receipt. So we shall see! And yes I'd love to get to Vegas to see her, though I've seen her many times. She's also playing on some cruise in the midst of that
Avatar 🦇 4:37am
Julie:

Not sure I can afford the pilgrimage to London AND Vegas :)
  4:40am
SAL:

was in Las Vegas, years ago.

haven't visited Europe other than two times

once decades ago (when I lived in Italy as a child) & the other time was years later.

never visited england.
  4:44am
SAL:

the music services that I use, are paid versions, so that there is compensations to recording artists etc.
  4:46am
coalhard:

If someone passes Cat Stevens wondering around in an airport could you please bring him home (just kidding) I'm sure he s good
Avatar 🦇 4:47am
Julie:

yes I understand that, but I think the compensation is quite small. I see musicians talk about how much the get from them. They do much better selling digitally through bandcamp etc.
Avatar 🦇 4:47am
Julie:

coalhard, is he missing?
  4:48am
P-90:

Congratulations! I was about to suggest that while you're there you might want to check out the Queen musical, if you haven't yet.
But: just checked and it's due to close on May 31, after 12 yrs.
There's going to be a US tour, though
Avatar 🦇 4:48am
Julie:

There is also a Kinks Musical, not sure how long that is supposed to last
Avatar 🦇 4:53am
Julie:

Stan went to see Renaissance this weekend. Of course they are here when I'm out of town!
  4:56am
SAL:

I pay roughly $500/yr for several Music Services.

I know that if you buy CD'S from stores the musicians get roughly 20 cents for each CD that are purchased and the record labels get 80 cents.

A lot of them get less than 20 cents per sale.
  4:57am
SAL:

speaking of the KINKS, can you play "Walking a Thin Line"?
  4:58am
coalhard:

Just checked archive last time Cat Stevens played was by Liz Berg 2012??
Avatar 🦇 4:59am

Avatar 🦇 5:00am
Julie:

I already played the Kinks I don't generally repeat myself. And what's this about Cat?
  5:00am
P-90:

The Hampstead Theater box office site says Kinks musical "Sunny Afternoon" still set to run only through May 24, seems like one of those deals where they can't extend it because other shows are scheduled to come in.
Of course if it' any good there will be further productions, touring companies, a Broadway run, bah blah
Also: rumors persist that Ray & Dave have buried the hatchet and are planning to tour...
Avatar 🦇 5:01am
Julie:

Yeah so they say....
  5:02am
P-90:

wait, I KNOW i've heard Cat Stevens on FMU since 2012!
