Live performance by Daniel Bachman and Mark Fosson
One of the best young fingerstyle guitarists to emerge in recent times, Daniel Bachman's playing brings you on an intense string-filled journey to the towns and places he's internalized since childhood. Locales like his hometown Fredricksburg, Virginia, and more recently Philadelphia, play into what Bachman calls his “Psychedelic Appalachia" style of playing. His new disc, "Seven Pines," is out now on Tompkins Square. Joining Daniel is guitarist/songwriter Mark Fosson, a Kentucky native who briefly worked with John Fahey in the 1970's just as the Takoma Label was failing. Fosson has since worked with fellow songwriter Edward Tree in the Bum Steers in the 80's, and moved on to other collaborations before going solo again. Mark has been compared to Americana folks like Ramblin' Jack Elliott, Joe Ely, John Prine, and Guy Clark. His Takoma tapes were \ released on Drag City a few years ago. Mark Fosson and Daniel Bachman play live on Irene's show.
