I've been enjoying your show immensely since I discovered WFMU a mere month ago. I'm disappointed in how much I have missed out on! If you don't mind me asking, do you have a favorite or important show in the archives that you have done for me to check out?

Berg:

this predates Cohen's version?
Avatar 🦇 4:21am
Julie:

That is a really good question. He wrote it, didn't he?
  4:24am
Berg:

Other notable early versions were by Noel Harrison (whose recording was a minor hit) and seminal British folk-rock group Fairport Convention.[4] In fact Fairport Convention were among Cohen's earliest admirers, and their take on "Suzanne" was sung as a duet between Sandy Denny and Iain Matthews for the BBC in August 1968; the recording was released on their BBC sessions compilation Heyday.
  4:25am
Lynn Lockjaw:

Cohen wrote and published much of his poetry before he performed as a singer, so much of it was song by others first, but not sure if this was one of them.
  4:29am
Berg:

(that was from wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzanne_(Leonard_Cohen_song) )
  4:29am
BadGuyZero (Dallas, TX):

Judy Collins was the first to record "Suzanne" (in 1966).

@fred von helsing I assume the blah blah blah is where you would have listed the pony....

Before I moved, there was a coffee shop that was only a few blocks from home that I tried to go to, but it was always too smoky for me to even consider. Now the only "coffee shop" in town (small town) is a grocery store kiosk. FWIW, the store does have wifi, but that's about it.

I dunno 'bout N.NJ or NYC but we have this kind of a summer schedule http://www.alppipuistonkesa.info/ (the dates on the right are all clickable) and it's all in a public park with BYOB before a proper stage and w a proper sound system, so it's pretty damned righteous when the rain stays away (only to come again another day)
