Favoriting October 31, 2024: Tonight's Guests: Director Alonso Ruizpalacios (LA COCINA), Actor D'Arcy Carden and Directors Yassir Lester & Isaiah Lester (THE GUTTER) and Director Caroline Lindy (YOUR MONSTER)
What a weekend of films we have. Something for everyone! First up is LA COCINA, a film that takes us inside the immigrant experience of living and working at a large tourist restaurant in Manhattan. The film stars Rooney Mara (The Social Network) and on the show with us tonight is Director Alonso Ruizpalacios. Then we head off in a very different direction with the crazy comedy THE GUTTER about an accidental bowling prodigy who utilizes his new found skill to save a bowling alley from going under. With us tonight is Actor D'Arcy Carden (The Good Place) and Directors Yassir & Isaiah Lester. How about a quirky romantic comedy between a young Musical Theatre actress and the Monster that lives under her bed? Then YOUR MONSTER will be right up your alley and tonight we have Director Caroline Lindy with us. Suppose you're in the mood for a character driven road trip dramedy, then I'll suggest A REAL PAIN starring Kieran Culkin (Succession) and Jesse Eisenberg (*also THE Social Network) who also wrote and directed it. If a true story and harrowing family adventure is what you're seeking, then LOST ON A MOUNTAIN IN MAINE, for you. Documentary lovers be sure to turn that dial to Disney+ to catch the story of the greatest and most prolific film scorers of our lifetime in MUSIC BY JOHN WILLIAMS. If you're in the mood for a live performance and you're a Star Wars fan of a certain age might I suggest THE EMPIRE STRIPS BACK: A Burlesque Parody currently running at The Montalban Theater in Hollywood. Finally we check out ZZ Top at the Fred Kavli Theatre in Thousand Oaks! Buckle up, its going to be a busy night!

It was me!
I haven't really been able to swing into the actual live panic room since I first popped in after hearing your reviews on Wake and Bake.

I love that your show exists and that you are out there. I felt the exact same way about the other two shows I really wanted to get some small amount of recognition.

Jason Isaacs Crescent city connection is awesome. It is a trip to New Orleans every Saturday morning.

And I have no idea what Dan Morfit is going to play next, Sometimes I don't like it, but other times I love it.

I actually recommended The Marie Antoinette Taxes to him after hearing it on your show and he played it the very next show.

Thank you for being part of what keeps making WFMU more and more awesome!

Almost totally certain that the so-called Suzy Hokum is not a real person (hint: look up the word “hokum”), and she is in fact Nancy Sinatra.
Not sure why she went by that name - maybe because she was signed to another label at the time?
