Times were far different. Seat belts were an option. No pesky helmet laws for hockey players or motorcyclists. I bought cigarettes and alcohol at age 13 and entered bars and clubs with no i.d. or annoying security checks. There was a smoking area in high school for fuck’s sake. These guys did a nice run at the Village Vanguard (Linda May Han Oh was the bassist most of the week, but this was the band I saw).
Tyshawn Sorey – drum set
Aaron Diehl – piano
Matt Brewer – bass

Seem to be in a '60s jazz mood today? Either way, I like what you're playing.

I’ve heard it said that fortune favors a prepared mind. It seems that very few are actually prepared for stardom, fame and or success which tends to either evade one or land upon them in a crushing manner. Which is worse? Who can say? It is all an illusion I guess.

Indeed, that's a great way of putting it.
(Not that fame can be prepared for with any certainty - it helps to have some plan ahead of time. For anything.)
