just taking each day as it comes. more than before, i owe you a reply (got yours, thank you.

hope things continue to be good/okay.

too much to say to you, and i really need to prepare the same kind of reply for anyone interested).

the tl;dr for that part is i am messed up. and everything is a challenge, and weird, and i feel misunderstood and alone.

(just like most everybody(?)) -- and i'm sick of complaining, and retelling everything over and over and over.

had to convince a social worker yesterday that i am 1) poor and 2) disabled permanently -- initial goal was to see that kind of work i could do, which shouldn't have happened, as the MDs eval has been available to their agency for over a year, and states as much clearly.

blah blah blah. everything is ridiculous... i'm just glad i have food and a place to be inside and sleep (and not on the sidewalk, like so many ppl in sf, and everywhere

thank you for asking. #1 is always the same - stay calm. a million things swirling around in my mind, but, the tl;dr reply to 'sup is that - staying calm. (tons more. all unpleasant, all difficult, and unwelcome to most commenters and DJs

okay. that's enough out of me for now. apologies, all. Phillippe asked 8^)

one more thing is up: i'm going to comment less. (read: complain less/ be a bummer less).

What's interesting is the collab with her (eventually divorced) husband Gerry Goffin - evidently she was positive about the move, and you can hear more of that pop vibe on her demo recording. Gerry was more doubtful, and those cynical lyrics show it.

The Monkees released version does a great job of incorporating both sides of that composition, and becomes almost like an "American Kinks" song with the upbeat satirical tone.

The way it is with the "city-state" of Berlin, the majority of it is in fact "suburbs". Away from the central Mitte, the former West or former East still is the main difference in qualities.

The kinda lazy drumming and noodling flanger guitar tells me this is kinda dark wave adjacent.

Vini Reilly, the guitarist, was a huge influence on Alasdair MacLean of the Clientele.

pariah (n.)
1610s, "member of a low caste in southern India, shunned as unclean," from Portuguese paria or directly from Tamil (Dravidian) paraiyar, plural of paraiyan "drummer" (at festivals, the hereditary duty of members of the largest of the lower castes of southern India), from parai "large festival drum." "Especially numerous at Madras, where its members supplied most of the domestics in European service" [OED]. Applied by Hindus and Europeans to any members of low Hindu castes and even to outcastes. Extended meaning "social outcast" is attested by 1819.

Listening to this Weds afternoon show at 4-5-6am Saturday. My schedule has been super messed up since July, because Mary Ellen's aunt died and left two houses and an estate for Mary Ellen to be executor on. She turned out to have been a major hoarder, so it's been weeks of work for us living out of a hotel in Lafayette, LA. Anyhow, listening to various FMU shows on archive in recent weeks...
