On the subject of brothers (which we weren't on) I learned yesterday Paul Williams had a brother named Mentor who was also a songwriter--"Drift Away" is his best-known credit.
They have another brother John who is a NASA rocket scientist but I guess that's not relevant.

Doritos vodka? I don't know what that is

  11:00pm
Scott E.:

Listener Scott here. I couldn’t make the live broadcast as I was attending an event not necessarily of my own choice.
The Doritos spirit is indeed a commercial product from a company called Empirical, to which I have no connection. I heard about it via on of these “can you believe this?” stories and instantly wanted it. Technically it’s not vodka, as the brand positioning of the company, as we say in the marketing game, is that they create their own types of spirits and flavors— but yeah it’s vodka infused with Doritos.
It does taste like Doritos and even though they have cocktail recipes for it I figured if I was going to go through the trouble of getting a Doritos booze, I would enjoy the pure (as it were) flavor and invented the obvious idea of garnishing with actual Doritos.
I like it, but I also made the Velveeta Martini, which requires infusing your vodka with Velveeta cheese sauce, rimming the glass with more, and garnishing with jumbo Velveeta shells — as well as infusing vodka with smoked salmon to make a salmon martini. None of this is necessarily recommended to regular people, but the adventurous might look to try curious ideas.
