Danielle Boutet  14e Siècle   Favoriting Pièces  Freedom To Spend  2024    Hot damn, this entire album is gorgeous. Go get yours now: https://freedomtospend.bandcamp.com/album/pi-ces

Originally self-released by Danielle Boutet in Montreal, Quebec, in 1985. Reissued by Freedom To Spend as part of their uncommon¢ (“uncommon sense”) series.

From the bandcamp write-up: "Moving from languid ennui to high drama, Pièces is a dreamy gestalt, an album that borders Chanson, spoken-word, jazz noir, and minimalism, conjured from the chasm between acoustic and electronic realms. Pièces allows us a window into the highly intimate songcraft and compositional skill of an artist who longed to linger not in the public eye, but in relation with others and the world around her."

Puppy Laila found a baby bird in our yard (she picked it up but put it down right away when told, not typical for her). Vet told us to put in a box on a towel under the tree she was found at, so we did that last night (hope is for the parent to come get it). Still there this morning (found another, but not alive), still moving. The next step, as I understand it, is to call a animal shelter, they pick them up and supposedly care for them. I was working as a carpenter on someone's 'family room' in 1978. It was a dismal job on a cold morning in December. The woman who lived there asked me if I wanted some coffee 'SURE!' At that time, I was an irregular coffee drinker at best. She brought me a cup of Sanka. I looked at the tan scum on the surface of the cup and took a hesitant sip. 'This is coffee!?' I said to no one in particular.
