there was a furbie in my sister's house at one point and when it started malfunctioning, as they inevitably do, it was amazingly scary sounding. i wanted to get recordings but the window was small and by the time i came back with my recorder it wasn't making much noise.
so i kept watch for discarded furbies but apparently people had decided they were worth something. (or more likely been duped by the industry into creating a "collector's market")
