They used to call the language Serbo-Croatian. I wonder if after the war, they have "become" two different languages, Serbian and Croatian. Of course, maybe they had quite different dialects before then.
Avatar 🇰🇷 7:43pm

Wiki: Serbo-Croatian is typically referred to by names of its standardized varieties: Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian and Montenegrin. (But it seems that the language was largely standardized across Yugoslavia back in the day.)

Linguists consider it to basically one language (BCMS). The subvariants are all much closer to each other than pairings of what we normally consider to be distinct languages (e.g. Spanish / Catalan). However for social / political reasons it is customary to refer to each B/C/M/S separately, these days.

Caesar salad truly demands a freshly laid egg. Many years ago my partner and I would dine with a friend whose parents had chickens. He would produce a Caesar salad dressing never to be bettered, not least because he incorporated a fresh egg, the hot mustard from Philippe's in Los Angeles and fresh rosemary from his own garden.

Tonight I had to make room in the fridge/freezer; used1 bunch of 2 of outrageously overpriced ramps to make a ramp focaccia; also warmed up a dish of beef shank that I made last night. Super tired now. Med appointment tomorrow so getting up early to bill at least a half day before going off to assorted pokings, proddings, and scans. Meh.

Yup, I don't think that people realize that a real Caesar salad has so few ingredients, that only the top quality will do.

Whoa. I think I just accidentally favorited a song from my phone. Had no idea that was possible and no idea what the implications might be! What a wonderful world we live in.

when my Mom was ill, we made her a "hot Caesar" -- no egg allowed under the circumstances but I would leave the fat in the pan from whatever protein we had grilled for her that night (usually lamb or ribeye --it was one thing she craved and could keep down until the end). Rinse off romaine hearts, trim end and cut the long way, and sear in the hot pan. Top with no-egg Caesar but with extra anchovies and garlic.

It's super easy, just pan-grill some cut romaine cut side down and dress after it gets a nice char on it and wilts!

If you double-tap a song, you favorite it. But if you do it again, you might undo it.
