Record company refused to put out SC's last album, Modernism: A New Decade, which was a house record (specifically, Jersey Sound). Weller disbanded the band, disavowed Talbot, went in a new guitar-heavy direction. Style Council was the butt of a lot of jokes but in the last few years several DJs have been spinning "Long Hot Summer" and that seems to have led to a full-blown reassessment. That's my perception anyway

Now they're into singing songs, which initially struck me as odd, but now I dig it. For instance, check out "You gave it all" off the new album, io tu il loro. Record company refused to put out SC's last album, Modernism: A New Decade, which was a house record (specifically, Jersey Sound). Weller disbanded the band, disavowed Talbot, went in a new guitar-heavy direction. Style Council was the butt of a lot of jokes but in the last few years several DJs have been spinning "Long Hot Summer" and that seems to have led to a full-blown reassessment. That's my perception anyway
