Irish has weird grammatical rules. If a "gh" is followed a vowel, the G is silent (not pronounced at all, like Galla-her). However, if followed by a consonant, it's pronounced like an F (Coughlin is pronounced "Coff-lin").

Dog-eared bills, esp. Ones and lower denominations. I sort bills in my wallet lowest in the front, highest in back. The divider strip I use to keep Tens and less in front, and all Twenties and higher in the back compartment.

If one type of currency is devalued, but another remains acceptable (like gold coins), people will hoard the good stuff and only use if absolutely necessary, while they pass around the worthless currency instead.

Along with less need for cash, and bank branches closing (less no-fee ATMs), I still keep a certain amount of cash, but increasingly (ADVERB!) don't use it, and refill it less frequently.

NY definitely doesn’t have a cash only law. There is a chain of coffee shops that only accept credit. Maybe debit cards too, but no cash. Only place where someone might tell me “sir, your money is no good here.”
