Hello, all! Today's playlist image is an untitled collage by Japanese artist Keiichi Tanaami, most likely done in the 1960s.

The pianist here is ... President Harry S. Truman.
  12:18pm
Phillip:

I've never been in an irish wilderness is it true about the Hobbits? Or is it leprechauns?
🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:21pm
WR:

Was wondering about the Truman piano on the Frizzell and find: "Dwight’s boyhood neighbor in Independence, Missouri was Harry S. Truman, who appears in Dwight’s work as a pianist, Atlantean King and time-traveler. "
Avatar 12:21pm
Tony Coulter:

@ Phillip: The Hobbits and Leprechauns are two rival gangs. They're always fighting over territory, like the Crips and Bloods.
  12:26pm
Phillip:

@Tony Coulter 😱😱😱😊

WR:

Truman died in '72 so likely Frizzell got copy of tapes of Truman, not actual direct collaboration.
Avatar 12:31pm
Tony Coulter:

Yes, definitely. Frizzell took a tape of Truman playing solo, and added parts.
Avatar 12:42pm
Tony Coulter:

In case anyone's wondering (I'm sure no one is): I've digitized last week's Tape Hiss tapes, so I can skip around and shuffle the track order. These are my favorite tracks from them.

I haven’t t heard Amor Fati in an age, still sounds great.

Tony Coulter:

On the whole, this obscure cassette culture stuff has aged much less than the big acts from the '80s. Still sounds outside of time (to my ears, anyway).
Avatar 12:59pm
Tony Coulter:

Not to say that the big acts are bad -- it's just that they sound "eighties" ... while this stuff mostly doesn't.
Avatar 1:01pm
Tony Coulter:

Except for some of the equipment being used, of course (the drum machines and such).
