	2:06pm Tony Coulter: @ Rich: As I recall, we were both there when BCO did a live set on Dr. Zomb's KBOO show. (Probably one of many times they've been on KBOO?)
	2:09pm Tony Coulter: @ coelcantho: Plus, I'm remembering now that the very first track I ever played on FMU, opening my first show (in 1990), was rap: De La Soul's "Transmitting Live from Mars."
	2:11pm Tony Coulter: Or, more properly, hip hop -- there's no rapping on that track!

	2:22pm coelacanth∅: Tony that's funny (@202) but the thing that's ironic...maybe? is that the early 90s is when, in my opinion, the greatest % of rap (hiphop is rap if its rapping) was good. i bought a lot of tapes then (including de la soul) and i still think it's excellent music. but gradually it digressed toward the crap -maybe because there was just so much good stuff available without repeating tracks. in any case i never completely disengaged. in fact i have cassettes of wfmu marathons from 1991 and 92 (which i only remember because i remember recording them, at my girlfriend's house, laughing hysterically at the zaniness -then running out of free tape)

	2:22pm coelacanth∅: Tony that's funny (@202) but the thing that's ironic...maybe? is that the early 90s is when, in my opinion, the greatest % of rap (hiphop is rap if its rapping) was good. i bought a lot of tapes then (including de la soul) and i still think it's excellent music. but gradually it digressed toward the crap -maybe because there was just so much good stuff available without repeating tracks. in any case i never completely disengaged. in fact i have cassettes of wfmu marathons from 1991 and 92 (which i only remember because i remember recording them, at my girlfriend's house, laughing hysterically at the zaniness -then running out of free tape)
