I missed a few Dark Nights of the Soul as I was in London. There were COVID-related live show cancellations/postponements (such as The Damned I had tickets for) but I did get to see Echo And The Bunnymen, though in Cambridge, and this was tricky as Storm Eunice messed up most of rail transport, so only a couple of trains to Cambridge and none at all back (had to wait in the cold of the night for a 3am bus back to London but thank god there was one...)

We have very tentative ideas about trying to travel this late June. We want to go to Edinburgh, but there are bargain flights to London. So we mulling over going there, seeing David (in London) (in London!), and taking the train up.

Of course, first we have to replace the passports that expired in May 2020. And before that, I just should maybe cut off the terrorist beard I've grown.

Julie:

it's Roger's birthday! He's 78.
  5:13pm
David in London:

Yo Handles, it was absolutely ace. Shit & Shine. Terrible name, but amazing long form collage pieces. I totally zoned out and wen into a psychedelic coma. It was great.

Cha Cha, hello. Yes, last week was a little ‘challenging’ in the Big Smoke. What did you get up to?
Avatar 5:14pm
Julie:

that does sound great I will have to hit Kip's archives for sure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm
Handy Haversack:

Pretty good as tidings go, David. Pret-ty good!
  5:17pm
David in London:

Androu, ahoy! I bring glad tidings of the very delicious kiwi fruit 🥝 I just had.

Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@5:13 David in London: saw gigs by Smoke Fairies, Douglas Dare, Boogarins + one at OTO, spent more £ at record shops than I should have and to top it all off visited Cambridge (saw Echo & the Bunnymen) when there were very few trains up there and none back (Dear Eunice you are a tricky one)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm
dreamyandseedy:

Kip also posts pictures on the playlist so that is fun
  5:18pm
David in London:

Fascinating fact, Ian Dury went to the same school as Stanley and I.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm

Whoa
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm
Handy Haversack:

Who got better grades among you?
Avatar 5:19pm
Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@5:18 David in London: Pete Townshend & Freddie Mercury went to mine. I wasn't born yet though, hee hee.
  5:20pm
David in London:

Cha Cha, I live just near OTO. Next time you’re in town you must let me know so that we can grab a coffee together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm

some things -do- never change
Avatar 5:22pm
Julie:

Yep
Avatar 5:23pm
Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@5:20 David in London: a local lad! A coffee would've been necessary indeed, I had forgotten how to get there in fact (it's pretty easy from either one of the Dalston stations, but your humble ex-resident/tourist had forgotten all about it and was very tired)
  5:23pm
David in London:

Handles, probably Stanley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm
Handy Haversack:

Michael, Daniel Blumin led off last night with "War Pigs" and "21st Century Schizoid Man." It was apt. Apt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm
Michael 98145:

i wish i could say i can't bear reading the news, but that would not help
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm
Michael 98145:

no more iPhones being sold in Russian. maybe.
Avatar 5:27pm
Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Three or four years ago, I realised i was crying in a cinema, at the end of what is essentially a comedy, Dr. Strangelove, thinking indeed, some things never change. It is a funny film, but I am not sure I could watch it right now (I know I am oversensitive and way too sentimental)

'When Edward Ka-Spel founded The Legendary Pink Dots with two close friends back in 1980, the compact disc had not been invented. It was a particularly tense period for the World with the Soviet Union and the United States of America hurling abuse at each other in what was laughingly referred to as “The Cold War”. People played cassettes in their car stereos.'
