George Martin said allowing strawberry fields forever and penny lane -the first 2 songs completed for sgt.pepper- to be released as singles, whereby removing them from the album -according to absurd emi policy at the time - was the biggest mistake of his professional career.

Christgau is provocative. He likes to get a rise out of the reader. He knows there so much garbage, and he knows its willing consumers will get pissed off when they read his pronouncements. The claims made for most commercial music releases are ludicrous and, for the most part, the music press needs to have its pants pulled down in public. I loved Bangs and Meltzer who thought rock was a bloated liar, at the end of the 60s, and they wanted everyone to join in putting it out of its misery...or our misery.

Mice at girlfriend's house recently tucked goldfish crackers neatly under the covers of her made bed. One ran across her face in bed when the new resident cat was going after it. Cat later caught one, but there's worry about her eating mice that have snacked on the poisoned bait under the sink. Such rigmarodentrole.

Pests. Though we are living in their world, too. Oh dear, are WE the pests?!?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm
StringOFperils:

I had a cat that brought me a fresh kill when I was in bed. I turned the light on to see what all the thrashing was about, and found a headless mouse in bed with me...like Stuart Little and The Godfather put together.

When I was a kid we had a beagle that was prodigious mouser.

It wasn't leaky or nothin'; actually it looked like it was full of raspberry jam.

In other relevant eating, a tribute dish on biteswiththebeatles website: "I set out to create a spaghetti recipe that Aunt Jessie would dream about every night." And the recipe is right there for us.

WR, report on Mondays Steve Bernstein's Millennial Territory Orchestra show at the Atlantic-they were terrific. Lots of early lazy, Blues, recent pop, New Orleans music (Mardi gras started Tuesday), great band-Curtis Fowlkes, tbn, Charlie Burnham, violin, Doug Wiesselman, clarinet, Tenor, Peter Apfelbaum, tenor, Eric Lawrence bari sax, Matt Munisteri, guitar, Ben Allison, bass, Ben Perowsky, drums. Seen a lot, most of these guys in the past, but it's been a while, COVID, some look so much older, shocking (happens with friends I see now too), but they were fantastic!
Nice venue too!
