Sun. Dec 22nd, 3pm - 5pm:
The Unsolicited Return of the Winter Soul-stice (fill-in for Paul Bruno)
(More info...)
You can't stop the seasons from turning, and you evidently also can't stop an old dog from performing his one old trick. Answering the teeming clamor of one New York Times food columnist
, Gaylord Fields is returning to WFMU's airwaves for a one-off Winter Soul-stice program. In his time away he's learned nothing, so the format will remain the same: two hours of original 1960s soul 45s, and the abuse of an expensive reverb machine for the sake of corny vocal effects.
Oh, DJGG! I'm so pleased that you could make it during these more UK-friendly hours.

Wow ... just last week, I recommended Toy Piano Tuesday as a day theme for his themes... (of course mentioning Margret LT) Thanks GF ...
must run out but back soon ... I'll wait for the tune to end
@DJGG: I wish I could listen to Becky's show; that's one drawback to the new hours. Please give her my love, making certain to save a bit for yourself. :)
If I had any wine in the house I'd be drinking a conversational red right now - these tracks are *glorious*. I feel like I'm in a lovely warm bath with candles and incense everywhere 💕
Happy Sunday Gaylord and friends—saying hi from a gas pump in East Tennessee ! Tuning in from the road for the second week in a row. Nice to have some spiritual company listening with all y’all!
Gaylord I don't know if you like it when other DJs bust into the room but I really wanted to run in there and sing The Sweet's Hellraiser to you. I'm behaving in the warmup area instead. Warming up. Doing some calisthenic and deep knee bends.
@A Bump in Burbank: They're a duo from Atlanta, and, as it says on the can, that is their instrumentation. That track, as well as their entire oeuvre, is improvised!
Hi Gaylord. I was a little late to the party this evening.
Interesting Charles Ives arrangement. I believe Kronos Quartet has a recording of an Ives song with a nearly identical melody, but including lyrics. If memory serves, that song is called "They Are There."
