Sun. Dec 22nd, 3pm - 5pm:
The Unsolicited Return of the Winter Soul-stice (fill-in for Paul Bruno)
(More info...)
You can't stop the seasons from turning, and you evidently also can't stop an old dog from performing his one old trick. Answering the teeming clamor of one New York Times food columnist
, Gaylord Fields is returning to WFMU's airwaves for a one-off Winter Soul-stice program. In his time away he's learned nothing, so the format will remain the same: two hours of original 1960s soul 45s, and the abuse of an expensive reverb machine for the sake of corny vocal effects.
Thanks for the show, Gaylord! Glad I can turn in live today, at least for half an hour or so before going to bed ... (and catch up the rest of the show in the archives later)
good evening, Gaylord! Everyone!
enjoying these selections immensely, perfect soundtrack for this glorious sunset over Jersey City :)
(and soooooooo helping to untangle frazzled nerves too -- it has been a really stressful, frustrating day)
gotta duck into an online Yoga class at 7pm -- but will be listening!
and again, infinite GRATITUDE to you all, my FMU family -- i love you all so much!!! <3 <3 <3
@Gaylord i typically catch your show in the archives but pleased to chance upon it live for a change.
Affords me the chance to inquire...
U played a song by The Who over the pandemic and I loved it. Cant find it in the archives but i recall u announced it was from 'the best Who album'.
What praytell is your fav album by The Who so i might locate this song/album?
welcome to the new time slot, Gaylord! I might need a week or two to adjust but I’ll manage :) Maybe this slots in better for a WCBS Doo-Wop Shop tribute…
