	🥁 10:03am doctorjazz: I went to Vietnam a few years ago on a bike tour, they were indeed very friendly to us. But there are lots of museums whose theme is "America did some really bad shit here". And our tour guides were very nervous and reluctant to discuss the War or current politics. Will definitely check out DJpeterDE's show!

	10:17am Gina Bacon: IIt's coming, but they haven't gotten it yet...so they close the borders and lock everything down. Although after a period of normalcy, people aren't cooperating the way they did, like here. It worked really well for awhile. They were doing a great job of controlling it.

	10:20am Franco Twinkie: Doc, I got the feeling that there was still tribal/racial suspicion between the Chinese and Vietnamese. After all, when the Americans finally left, they had a good go at each other in the North.

	🥁 10:25am doctorjazz: And Vietam's business strategy has been undercutting manufacturing in China, wherecosts have risen, but labor is still inexpensive in Vietnam (Not to mention the Geopolitical issues).
	10:25am Franco Twinkie: I also notice that the French were ga-ga in love with the Vietnamese and treated with studied cool in return. And in the North, the Vietnamese absolutely despised the Russians.

	🥁 11:04am Doug Schulkind: Many years ago when I was working in the office at WFMU, I had the task of compiling show descriptions from all the DJs for the next issuance of our program guide. As you can imagine some DJs pretty much blew this off and flat refused to participate. It was left to me to compose blurbs for them. Pat Duncan was one such refusenik, and I ended up writing his program description. Here's what I wrote: "Pat Duncan has been playing punk on the radio since before you were born."
	11:07am Stork: The only time Pat Duncan ever missed his show and got a fill-in was when the Mets had a huge game and Pat (who was a vendor at Sheas stadium for years as his day job) didn't want to miss the game.
	11:08am Stork: Sorry - just remembered Pat was an usher, not a vendor.

	🥁 11:18am Doug Schulkind: When I left my day job at WFMU, the station threw me a party and gave me some gifts. One of the gifts was a deluxe package at Shea Stadium that included two game tickets behind home plate and access to the fancy VIP restaurant. Pat Duncan secured that package for me. My dad traveled to New York and I took him to the game. It was a memorable day.

We were sitting right near that lady who came to every single home game and, sitting directly behind home plage, did that obsessive-compulsive rotating-her-arms motion when the Mets had a rally going. I do remember that glistening cuica drum. It's sitting right here, in fact. I plan to be buried with it.

As you can imagine some DJs pretty much blew this off and flat refused to participate. It was left to me to compose blurbs for them. Pat Duncan was one such refusenik, and I ended up writing his program description. Here's what I wrote: "Pat Duncan has been playing punk on the radio since before you were born."

My dad traveled to New York and I took him to the game. It was a memorable day.
