The cops did not charge the dude who smashed into six other cars with anything. which the insurance co. says is increasingly common -- they are pretty much only going after "property crimes" (graffiti) and people or color at this point because of, well, you know. So we're still at the mercy of his insurance. I'll talk to my co. again today since I was able to use privilege and connections to get the police accident report, which otherwise was unobtainable (!). That was four hours of effort yesterday. It's a shitshow top to bottom. But hey, at least the neighbors upstairs let their bedbugs spread. Ugh. What a crap week. Sorry, sorry. I am apparently primed to vent complaints when only very slight pressure is applied. We'll have to find some kind of neutralizing agent. Hey, Andrew!

	9:37am Threemoons: @Handy ugh re extra bedbug misery. Sorry that you get allergic to them on top of it. If it helps at all, the services that use trained beagles and cryo really work. When I worked at a Major Cancer Center, our offices had apparently once gotten a bad case which is NO BUENO if it gets spread to places like, let's say, complete bone marrow transplant patients in tented isolation. Apparently the service that really stamped them out was one of the beagle and cryo services; also, cryo is safe for electronics, furniture, etc.

The first reel of that Horror was the worse one - discovering it & figuring out what was going on ! You're past that already. Reel two is knowing what must be done & the trial of doing it - specifically - isolating every single material possession for half a year - & having the empty apt. treated by very hot air to kill them. I sure do wish the Fates would pick on someone I deem more deserving...

	9:46am Handy Haversack: It's impossible. We have like 3000 books and four pets in a four-room hallway of an apt. We have called in poison for Saturday. I can't believe my dad and Billie Holiday were friends, but they really apparently were. I think I have mentioned here how when he was drafted for WWII, he gave her his stash of weed to hold while he went to take his physical. After flunking it and coming back for his stash, he was able only to smoke the last of it with her as the rest had all been smoked or sold or shared while he was away. But the friendship endured. My dad's drug talk to me: "Don't smoke too much pot; all my friends died of heroin overdoses."

	9:52am Revolution Rabbit Nov63: ...Had to get a cot & elevate it - create an 'island' to not feed the bugs with my own blood. They can only crawl - not fly or leap. But they are cryptic - experts @ hiding. You get the rash - like with fleas or mosquitoes. They don't carry disease - but how awful is this ?! Really just the worst. BUT - the remedial steps are well known - & the other side of it WILL come.

	9:55am Kpx: When I first moved in where I am now the whole rooming/apartment house was infested with bed bugs, it took about three years to lick the problem in my studio apartment for about 6 months. But then the current superintendent would come in and reinfest my apartment, he moved out about 2 years ago, and soon after that the bedbug problem was eradicated. And we've been bed bug free ever since.

Resorted to toxic foggers : landlord said that just chases them from one apt. to another. But it worked for me... Sorry for the distraction LadyDay! But I think there's stigma around bedbugs - & straight info is good.

	10:12am Phillippe Bastille: @Handy just a word on your car: If the car is totaled and the body damage is something you can live with or think you can get done cheaply, you can usually buy the car back from your insurance company at the salvage value. You'll get a salvage title that will impact how much the insurance company will pay you if you get in another crash, and the car will be fairly worthless when you try to trade it in later, but at least you'll still have transportation.

SInce I moved to Washington I'd noticed crows a little bit bigger that grackles along side regular sized crows. I finally looked it up and sure enough there's a subspecies of crows. I had no idea.

The cops did not charge the dude who smashed into six other cars with anything. which the insurance co. says is increasingly common -- they are pretty much only going after "property crimes" (graffiti) and people or color at this point because of, well, you know. So we're still at the mercy of his insurance. I'll talk to my co. again today since I was able to use privilege and connections to get the police accident report, which otherwise was unobtainable (!). That was four hours of effort yesterday. It's a shitshow top to bottom. But hey, at least the neighbors upstairs let their bedbugs spread. Ugh. What a crap week. Sorry, sorry. I am apparently primed to vent complaints when only very slight pressure is applied. We'll have to find some kind of neutralizing agent. Hey, Andrew!

When I worked at a Major Cancer Center, our offices had apparently once gotten a bad case which is NO BUENO if it gets spread to places like, let's say, complete bone marrow transplant patients in tented isolation. Apparently the service that really stamped them out was one of the beagle and cryo services; also, cryo is safe for electronics, furniture, etc.

The first reel of that Horror was the worse one - discovering it & figuring out what was going on ! You're past that already. Reel two is knowing what must be done & the trial of doing it - specifically - isolating every single material possession for half a year - & having the empty apt. treated by very hot air to kill them. I can't believe my dad and Billie Holiday were friends, but they really apparently were. I think I have mentioned here how when he was drafted for WWII, he gave her his stash of weed to hold while he went to take his physical. After flunking it and coming back for his stash, he was able only to smoke the last of it with her as the rest had all been smoked or sold or shared while he was away. But the friendship endured. My dad's drug talk to me: "Don't smoke too much pot; all my friends died of heroin overdoses."

But they are cryptic - experts @ hiding. You get the rash - like with fleas or mosquitoes. They don't carry disease - but how awful is this ?! Really just the worst. BUT - the remedial steps are well known - & the other side of it WILL come.

	9:55am Kpx: When I first moved in where I am now the whole rooming/apartment house was infested with bed bugs, it took about three years to lick the problem in my studio apartment for about 6 months. But then the current superintendent would come in and reinfest my apartment, he moved out about 2 years ago, and soon after that the bedbug problem was eradicated. And we've been bed bug free ever since.
