I'm gonna confess here right now that the Buckinghams lyrics-added version of Mercy Mercy Mercy and the original instrumental walked separately around the streets of my familiarity but never ran into one another to be recognized together as family until now, as I was looking at song and Zawinul info, with me saying, "Ohhhhh! Yeah." And then I said, "Sheesh," and then I said, "Brains, huh? Go figure 'em."

That’s a London based label but they seem to release a number of Australian bands. They just released a really good album from Menagerie a Melbourne based Spiritual Jazz Ensemble.

I used to have an album that was made completely from paper, except for the actual plastic of the CD. The CD had a plain white paper circle affixed to it. All the sounds on it were made using paper. It was amazing. I lost it. I don't think I will ever find it again. My kanji is pisspoor :(

good F'delic tune which reminds me, i need tp go back and listen to Grogan's G. Clinton show from last Friday. work made me miss a lot of it.
Avatar 11:33pm
ifny:

@Matt Snap off the crappy scissors in my house or the Olafs? I have some crappy house inherited scissors with snapped off tips. But the Olafs are staying nice and sharp what with their serration, and I don't try to pry cans open with them so the blade tips are fine. Also the way they've shaped the tips looks like it is more resistant to snapping.

Avatar 11:42pm

I've been nerding out about handsaws this week. I've decided to buy a Silky, so excited! Beautiful design; 3D serration and blade tapers in three directions so it doesn't stick as you cut. They saw on the backstroke, smooth and less tiring. The teeth are tempered harder than the blade itself, meaning that the teeth stay sharp longer while the softness of the blade allows it to flex so it is less brittle and more resistant to snapping.

i'd like to have a saw like that, but i don't need more stuff. it's either big enough to need the circular saw, table saw or sabre saw; or small enough that i can deal with using my shitty saw for a minute.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm
coelacanth∅:

(although it's true i'd use the handsaw for slightly larger jobs if i had a good one)
Avatar 11:51pm
ifny:

I'm buying the Silky Ultra Accel. It's foldable and small enough that I can take it bicycle camping, but still respectably resize the log wafers that are annoying to chop with my axe. (I have some aged cherry that is a notorious axe-killer.) I have some carpentry project in mind as well.

Avatar 11:54pm

Curved for my pleasure. This is the one I'm buying www.silkysaws.com... but if portability isn't important to you, you'd probably want a curved Silky Bigboy www.silkysaws.com... My arborist buddy swears by them.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm
coelacanth∅:

they look like pruning saws to me!
i want to zoom in on those teeth but it's not an option.
Avatar 11:57pm
ifny:

Silkys are great for pruning, that's what she uses it for. I don't need to dovetail anything, else I would have gotten a straight blade. Silkys have two lock positions, most people think the second is for sawing something near the ground but it's actually for sawing overhead or at difficult angles. The Silky Ultra Accel has been called the Goldilocks of folding handsaws and I am stoked :)
Avatar 11:59pm
ifny:

The curved blade is nice because it pulls the wood in toward you on the backstroke, plus the curve gives you greater strength length. There are some good in-depth reviews/demos on YT, with teeth closeups.

Just remember that almost no one knows what the second position is for :P
