Handy Haversack:

Macau! [rips gambling slips to shreds, storms off to bar, blames society]
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
Brian in UK:

LOT, nice one.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:09pm
David (in London):

*blusters* I was going to say Macau!
Avatar 2:10pm
Really Lisa:

Oh well. I'm still on a mission. If travel restrictions lift I'll go to the Faroe Islands myself.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:10pm
David (in London):

No I wasn't.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:10pm
Handy Haversack:

Was Laos (geographically) the closest guess? Can I claim some sort of pointless credit?

Lisa, you can show what REAL music sounds like!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
Handy Haversack:

^show *them

Thursdays. I never could get the hang of Thursdays.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
David Dichelle:

I think somebody guessed China, which was definitely not wrong!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
David (in London):

Handy was really close with Laos.
(Did that do?)
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
dutchtheo:

I said China, and it is a Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China
Avatar 2:11pm
Hubig Pie:

Sorta sounds like ranchero
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
Michael 98145:

Whoa, Macau?!
Avatar 2:12pm
Really Lisa:

Exactly, Handy! <harumpf!>
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
Handy Haversack:

Thanks, David. *There's* the heightened sense of self-esteem!

OK, Macau has a cool flag: en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
David Dichelle:

Well guessed, dutchtheo!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
Brian in UK:

David, love that you really set yourself a challenge & I imagine that you would not spin again because it would be tricky to find some sounds. Oh this crazy radio station.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
Michael 98145:

Perhaps Portuguese influence?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
Phillippe Bastille:

Back again! Did you guys miss me?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
David Dichelle:

Yes, very much Portuguese. The first three tracks are in Patuá, the local Portuguese creole.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
David Dichelle:

Welcome back, PB!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
Michael 98145:

"The city has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world"
Avatar 2:16pm
Hubig Pie:

I had Tibet, which is also now China. Can someone give me a ruling on that?
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
Handy Haversack:

Yeah, dutchtheo is definitely closest. I'll be under the bleachers crying if anyone needs me. And wishing I had those Macanese pacatas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
David Dichelle:

Hubig, that is also a winner in my book!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
David (in London):

We certainly did Phillippe.

Hubig - You were close and so have won a half-pint pot of prawns (shell on).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
David Dichelle:

Laos wasn't bad either - maybe next week?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
Phillippe Bastille:

Damn, scrolling through the comments, I missed SO damn much! What am I gonna miss when I hop on my next call in 12 minutes? The secret code to get the vaccine early?
Avatar 2:19pm
Hubig Pie:

I was hoping on jellied eels, dammit
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Handy Haversack:

Well, the good news, Phillippe, is that we already found the Jade Scorpion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Phillippe Bastille:

I need to quit my job to appease my FOMO
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
Sem:

Really, Lisa: I met some Australians here in Nova Scotia who travel half the year in a giant truck called the Global Roamer.
They were headed to Northern Germany via Newfoundland, Labrador, Greenland, Iceland, the Faroes and the Shetlands!
Trips are all blogged here: www.globalroamer2.com
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
Yvang:

A very cliché an unappropriate depiction of Macau from a 70's french Music Hall band (for those interested) www.youtube.com...
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
Brian in UK:

Hubig Pie. Tibet & Xinjiang are technically Autonomous regions. So, close but.....
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:23pm
Brian in UK:

Xinjiang is perilously close to losing its identity with so many Han moving in.
Avatar 2:26pm
Really Lisa:

Sem, thanks for the link, wow! I was registered to run the Torshavn marathon this past June. Cancellation due to Covid19 😢
Who knows.. when restrictions lift, maybe I'll be able to take enough time off to see plenty more than the capital.
Avatar 2:26pm
Hubig Pie:

But UK Brian, if you want to plan an assault on Mt Everest from the north, you gotsta contact the Chinese authorities
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
David Dichelle:

Lisa, wow, I didn't realize they had a marathon there. Hope you can get there another year.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
Handy Haversack:

Really Lisa, I think we're going to blow all the climate credits we saved up during this year without air travel very quickly once we can fly again. Sorry, planet. But we got some sights to see!
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
Bas NL:

A most worldly small spot on Earth judging by the sounds.
Avatar 2:30pm
Really Lisa:

David, yes! One look at the marathon website and I registered. www.torshavnmarathon.com...
Handy, that's the thing! I have places to see. on foot, 42 km at a time (slow time hehe)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm
David Dichelle:

Bas: Yes, quite a mix of influences there. Sadly, the traditional Macanese culture has been losing ground.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:32pm
Brian in UK:

Hubig Pie, I should have written semi-autonomous state, so yes you are right.
Avatar 🚂 Swag For Life Member 2:33pm
Handy Haversack:

Shoot, now I want to come cheer you on in your marathon. And cheer for the scenery, too. Kate keeps wanting to go to beaches, and I keep finding far northern places I really want to see!

David Dichelle:

Hey there, Larry!
Avatar 2:34pm
Hubig Pie:

Yay, so I can claim my half pint of shell on prawns
Avatar 2:38pm
Really Lisa:

Handy, doesn't it look incredible?! Only thing, I'd love to learn enough of the language to make the effort to communicate in Faroese, but it's nearly impossible to find online.

Just checking the computer to see where this nice music is coming from. That random picker likes the small countries but I hope Vatican City is not next.
