I have been on it only once since Before, TDK60, when we marched into Manhattan and found ourselves at Times Square and not really fancying another five or six miles of walking to get home. We have used the ferry to get to those things we had to do in Manhattan, which ... well, I have very mixed feelings. But it's open-air.

Handy Haversack:

That's the problem, TDK -- it's not municipal. A private company heavily subsidized by tax dollars to VERY inefficiently move people around the city while also acting as a prop for the developers destroying the waterfront. So it lets the city and state continue to defund the MTA while paying something like $8 for every $2.75 ride on the ferry.

Not to mention how crowded the river has become for us urban canoeists!

But it's open-air.

Beautiful girls used to come up to
Rodney at dances and ask him to dance with them. And when Rodney, happy and pleased, stepped onto the dance floor

@TDK, from the Youtube video: "according to the Sea Dream (2001) liner notes, this was recorded in the mid 90's, written by Randy for his friend Paul Franklin and was found on a DAT tape containing ten takes, it goes on to say that this take is slightly slower and more loose than take 8 which Randy had highlighted; another version was actually released earlier than 2001 as a part of a promotional disc for the magazine Ptolemaic Terrascope - this according to Mick Skidmore who is/was compiling the posthumous Randy California recordings."
