That was one heck of a concert! VH opening for Ronnie Montrose, for whom Sammy Hagar sang on the first album, a great rock landmark, and then Journey morphing from cool post-Santana band into kitschy pop band.
Avatar 4:11pm

Yes, great show! Most people are unfamiliar with the fact that they were a much different band on their first 4 albums, before Perry.
Also, during a solo, Neal Schon saw a friend in the audience and went OFF soloing, incredible!

absolutely off-topic, sorry dear friends - but Dean, are you familiar with the 1970 album MAGNEETTIMIEHEN KUOLEMA by PEKKA STRENG? That's Tasvallan Presidentti accompanying Mr. Streng on that album, and in my opinion Tolonen at his finest (even if it is a bit subdued in some respect for his playing).

Nope, not at all familiar...except for the record label logo, which to this day has the power to startle me.
Avatar 4:22pm
Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@4:17 Dean: it is a classic! I am afraid I might have played the album from a not-cheap 70s or 80s pressing last Friday, after getting inebriated. Enough of me - it is a very beautiful album, very SINCERE music in the same way Donovan is. Pekka Streng was terminally ill, and knew it already when making that album. Three years after the lovely 1972 follow-up album, KESÄMAA, he died aged 26.

Julie, this is an honest-to-Murgatroyd quote from the book I just started editing. (The author is piano-shopping.). Perfect timing for this show being on during:

He walks me back into the showroom, to a beautiful black Estonia piano. He sits down and starts to play. First, Elton John’s “Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters,” followed by Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The music sounds wonderful.

WIRE! It took me a while to realize the first version I jheard of this song was not the original but a 1979 Finnish cover - "Vaihda Vapaalle" by Sehr Schnell (funny name, they weren't German or indeed very fast in spite of being a punk band)

Hmmm, I have no other ideas than the one I already made, which was favorite movie moments. Does not have to be exclusively written for a movie, and can also be from a series - like the netflix series The End Of The F**king World has a lot of creative use of previously released music. As for movies, besides an obvious choice like Trainspotting, Morvern Callar is a movie that makes good use of previously released music, from Can to The Mamas And The Papas.
