And my friend COMPLETELY ignored me because she was trying to get back together with her ex, who she invited without telling me (she said her extra ticket was for someone else). And it was in a theater. Still, the vibe was amazing. So much happiness. Wish I was a little more mature when I saw him. Still love the records so much!

	12:26pm Ben S: Toots at the central park band shell in 1989 (when summerstage was just music, no fences, seats or security), fully clad in black leather in the middle of August, funkifying every piece of sweaty grit in the nyc air... unforgettable. Yeah Duane Train!

There was Vin Mariani, a coca wine that was loved by Queen Victoria and whoever the Pope was at the time. He even appeared in an ad for it giving it the holy thumbs-up irrc. Imagine Pope Francis appearing in a Four Loko ad. I think there were other tonics too though calling themselves wines that had no wine in them.

	12:56pm xtrakrispy: It just so happens, that what my company specializes in Fortified Aromatized wines. The most popular today is Vermouth - the primary botanical being wormwood aka vermut which provides bitterness. Quinas/Quinquinas/Kinas/Chinatos use quinine for bitterness. This was the CBD of it's day and was thought to cure almost everything. Americanos used gentiane (root or flower) to provide bitterness. We sell all these categories today and they are very popular with the craft cocktail bars. Many of the other botanicals such as cocoa not longer exist due to style/taste preferences or legality.

	1:39pm mariano: That's interesting, xtrakrispy. It's a fascinating world, infused/fortified liquors or whatever their actual name is. Weren't many of them developed in monasteries for health reasons? Thinking mainly of Chartreuse, named for the Carthusians.
	1:41pm captain beef fart: Late to the show but looking forward to the replay for the toots tribute. I was fortunate to see him at The HUUUUUUUURRRRrricaaane in OC, MD in the late nineties. What a blast. Hardest working man in reggae.

Celebrate Brooklyn is the BEST! as much as i love the Summerstage shows in Central Park, Prospect Park is freaking GORGEOUS! love the vibe there -- did you go to any of the African Festivals that used to be a yearly event? saw so many incredible shows there -- Kassav', Lila Downs, Angélique Kidjo . . . and STILL kicking myself for missing Isaac Hayes when he opened the season one year! i loved the shows in the smaller NYC parks (Summerstage or not) too! Plena Libre at St. Mary's Park in the Bronx, Gil Scott-Heron and The Last Poets both did shows at Marcus Garvey Park, Antibalas at Fort Greene Park . . . DAMN, i am so hoping that someday things will be sort of "normal" and we all can experience stuff like this again!

Pier 54, 13th St. and the Hudson River." and YES it was crazy hot and humid but Toots was totally decked out in head to toe leather!

There was Vin Mariani, a coca wine that was loved by Queen Victoria and whoever the Pope was at the time. He even appeared in an ad for it giving it the holy thumbs-up irrc. Imagine Pope Francis appearing in a Four Loko ad. I think there were other tonics too though calling themselves wines that had no wine in them.

The most popular today is Vermouth - the primary botanical being wormwood aka vermut which provides bitterness. Quinas/Quinquinas/Kinas/Chinatos use quinine for bitterness. This was the CBD of it's day and was thought to cure almost everything. Americanos used gentiane (root or flower) to provide bitterness. We sell all these categories today and they are very popular with the craft cocktail bars. Many of the other botanicals such as cocoa not longer exist due to style/taste preferences or legality.

Celebrate Brooklyn is the BEST! as much as i love the Summerstage shows in Central Park, Prospect Park is freaking GORGEOUS! love the vibe there -- did you go to any of the African Festivals that used to be a yearly event? saw so many incredible shows there -- Kassav', Lila Downs, Angélique Kidjo . . . and STILL kicking myself for missing Isaac Hayes when he opened the season one year! i loved the shows in the smaller NYC parks (Summerstage or not) too! Plena Libre at St. Mary's Park in the Bronx, Gil Scott-Heron and The Last Poets both did shows at Marcus Garvey Park, Antibalas at Fort Greene Park . . . DAMN, i am so hoping that someday things will be sort of "normal" and we all can experience stuff like this again!
