@Peter_K - good point! Irene is, as they used to say of the BBC's great Andy Kershaw, "master of the killer segue"!

Thanks Michael. It was just my Macbook output, which I think was fixed with a restart. Luckily I have plenty of CDs and LPs to play if the other goes bad.

This was the song that made me love Kottke also. I was really young, and didn't understand at first that he was playing a 12-string. Amazing player.

Hiya Stork! Welcome to Monday.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm

Sounds yummy, Sean! I may have to get BBQ for our dinner tonight as a result.

doctorjazz:

Every time I see a feature on an artist these days, I worry they've passed (Googled, see Kottke is alive, whew).
Saw him ages ago, Bottom Line (always loved his playing; singing, not so much...).
Been busy at work, couldn't post, but wanted to second the Richard Thompson recommendation! Also have seen him many times, but only once doing the request show (at The City Winery). It was a blast! One request-And Your Bird Can Sing, which he went for, couldn't quite do it, but it was great seeing him try!
And, Hi Irene and all you outthere.
Avatar 2:34pm

Hi, DrJ. I know what you mean. that's why I only do birthday tribs (though most of my subjects died long ago).

KOTTKE!

Dean:

Kottke's cover of "Arms of Mary" on this live album is the sweetest, most poignant tribute to a pop song I know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm
Irene Trudel:

Hey doctorjazz, I know what you mean but I think we need to focus more on celebration, especially if they're still doing live shows. Gotta see these folks every opportunity we can get.
Avatar 2:38pm
Stork:

Good point, Irene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
doctorjazz:

Not your fault, it's just the crazy times we live in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
Irene Trudel:

Stork, Leo's shows are as priceless for their stories as they are for his playing.
Avatar 2:41pm
Stork:

This one (Peg Leg? ) is one of those Kottke tunes that I can't tell if he's in standard tuning or not. Just impossible sounding arpeggios.
Avatar 2:44pm
Stork:

Oh, OK - it's Czech Bounce (great pun) - second only to the one were a little guy iin Prague is running from the Russians in 1968 - comes up to a house, rings the bell and sez "excuse me. Could you cache a small Czech?"
Avatar 2:45pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Distant early warning: See you all here on the Drummer stream in 15 minutes, for a dream-chamber special sound collage pair, "Laughter Brings You Closer (to the)"...

3-5pm ET on Ken's Last Ever...! wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
Irene Trudel:

Ha, Stork! Leo's full of puns.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm
Irene Trudel:

Leo compares his singing voice to "geese farts on a muggy day."
Avatar 2:52pm
Stork:

I would say more like "wry, soulful geese farts on a muggy day."
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 2:53pm
Michael 98145:

Another enjoyable voyage. Thank you, Irene.
