	9:12am Doug Schulkind: T.N. Rajaratnam Pillai is generally considered the greatest of all the nadaswaram players. This tune, Todi (or sometimes "Thodi") is a number every nadaswaram player has in their repertoire. It is a kind of rite of passage playing this number.

	10:03am Doug Schulkind: @βrian The mbube style of singing, for sure. It's that high-mask singing. The resonance is in the nasal passage.
	10:04am Doug Schulkind: This piece is unusual to have piano accompaniment. Shape note singing is generally strictly performed a cappella.
