Who but Braxton would spray graffiti on a polka band? Hello Sam and all!

Perfect music for dirt racing!

True that, Franco! Or running wind sprints.

wait, wait, there is a "The Complete Arista Recordings of Anthony Braxton"!!!!???

*faints*

I have a lot of Anthony Braxton, books about him, and it''s impossible to keep up w/ his output. Dayum!

david said it perfect. And whom else would record w/ Wolf Eyes!!!?

*faints*

For just a moment I thought about getting the complete Braxton bandcamp digital discography but then thought realistically about how I should be spending nearly $800 if I had that much in my "discretionary " budget...
Avatar 10:16pm
northguineahills:

I really need to get a fainting couch....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm
Sam Segal:

$800 is a bit steep, WR! You could probably spend the next decade diving into it though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm
Sam Segal:

Not just any box set, a Mosaic box set, NGH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm
StringOFperils:

This Nuyorican electro funk is kind of cool
Avatar 10:22pm
northguineahills:

@WR: I have maybe 10% of Anthony Braxton's official discography (probably less), and then there's the unofficial. It's a rabbit hole one would never surface from.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm

Bit more info on Onyx Ashanti's bio, if you're interested, @String: blankforms.org...

word, Sam! I'd love to hit him up, but what little coin I have, just went to WFMU...

Hi Equestrians!
There's a Braxton Mosaic Box? This I gotta find...

(and I miss Thomkins Square Park, I've seen the best impromtu musicians there).

I do have a few dozen collector live recordings and a half dozen Arista on vinyl and a Black Saint 8 cd collection. I mean how much can we process? Of the ones on bandcamp I have been eyeing the Chadbourne, a couple of the operas, and the SGTM vocal 12 cd set. Adds up fast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm
Sam Segal:

There is, Doc! Covers much of his classic 70s material.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:32pm
WR:

Looking at my bandcamp notifications I see this is your bandcamp set and that Jeff Golick bought the Braxton/ Chadbourne set.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm

doctorjazz:

It's from 2008, long sold out, didn't see used copies on Discogs. Havea bunch of his stuff, and newer stuff I haven't had much time to listen to (the set with Nels Cline, for instance).
At one point, I bought almost everything Mosaic released, then just for to be too much, and stopped checking the site.
Avatar 10:37pm
northguineahills:

aye, WR, I heard the Braxton/Chadbourne on Jeff's show, and still really want it. (dig both artists...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm
doctorjazz:

Braxton/Chadbourne sounds interesting...they would seem to be 180 degrees apart in sensibility, while both are on the fringes of music.
Avatar 10:37pm
northguineahills:

oh, I forgot my mandatory, "Moodyman"!

and now, Bunny Lee!
Avatar 10:38pm
northguineahills:

@doctorjazz: check out Braxton/Wolf Eyes' "Black Vomit", live at Victoriaville...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm
Sam Segal:

Seeing Moodymann do an all Prince DJ set at First Avenue in Minneapolis on the one year anniversary of Prince's death remains a life highlight for me.
🥁 Swag For Life Member 10:39pm
WR:

One significant point is that you can listen to nearly all the Braxton on the bc website, so plenty to explore without buying. So I should not whine about the price.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm
doctorjazz:

While looking for the Complete Braxton, I found this article on it by D.O's Jeff G.
destination-out.com...
Avatar 10:44pm

and for the Braxton afficionados, I can't recommend enough the Graham Locke account of his '84 tour w/ Marilyn Crisspell , Gerry Hemmingway, and others....

@Sam: I last saw Moodyman in 2010 in Brooklyn at a small party (one of the Bunker affairs). T'was fun...

Embarrassed to say I hadn't heard of Obnox (or anyone in this set so far other than Pink Siifu after that DCB-quoting Avalanches single), I'll have to do some research! Great show as always Sam.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm
doctorjazz:

Don't be, don't know anyone in this set either. That's why I hang around this joint.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm

Woah, this is wild. Hadn't heard about Pink Siifu rapping Purple Mountains lyrics. I need to hear that track. With Rivers Cuomo on it! Bizarre!

Yeah, Hip Hop is a genre I'm not up on. I like it...there's just so many listening hours in the day...(my daughter sometimes hips me to something current that she likes).

This Drakeo the Ruler mixtape was recorded over the phone from the LA County Men's Central Jail.

a departed friend of mine (who recorded every concert he went to, almost one a night [beating my average], and worked at Sam Ash, once had a bday party in his flat in the projects in East NY. He insisted that he pick me up on his board at the train station, as I'd stick out in that hood. Best bday party ever (and amazing neighbors). RIP Kenard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm

@wmbogart: Free Greedo too! I've played him on the show several times as well.

here's to 2020 being an aptheosic (i see glimmers of hope).

I'm seeing my former cellist this weekend. We used have Daniel Carter guest in our band. We have quite a few recordings w/ him. For all of those interested, here's that album on bandcamp: danielcarternyc.bandcamp.com...

FYI: Daniel Carter is one of the special people of the universe, and gives the best hugs when you need them...(and the hardest gigging septegenarian I know, so throw him some coin!).
