Good to get your heard back too I suppose

I could not figure out the sound now hearing but as soon as I saw the playlist I understood.

I believe it was early May, 2012 when you hit GTDS w/ an quiet whisper.....

this sprinkler would mage a great sample for a techno hi-hat...

Hey Dave! Dreamland is really the best for radio listening though! Or at least the corridors leading to dreamland.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
StringOFperils:

You could just build other tracks on top of this rhythm, without even sampling it. It's already relentless machine music.
Avatar 7:19pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

@NGH, yeah May 2012, so many changes since then it's wild! I've now done the show from so many different locations I've lost count.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm

Avatar 7:40pm
βrian:

And umami? (A neighbor's nickname.)
  Swag For Life Member 7:41pm
WR:

NGH, niji / rainbow is new word for me, had to look it up. I have been exposed to Japanese for about 30 years and now trying to actually learn it.
  Swag For Life Member 7:42pm
WR:

Since the subject has come up NGH, from other comments it seems you lived in Japan for a while?
Avatar 7:44pm
northguineahills:

@WR: I grew up in Japan, and was conversational when I left. I've lost a lot of the language, but remember the grammar structure.

I still remember hiragana, and can phonetically pronounce it, but I don't remember most of the words. The only Kanji I know is place names.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm
coelacanth∅:

i used to live across a small river from a corn/sunflower field/ that pumped water from the river to a water canon. my first summer after moving in i thought someone was shooting substantial guns at fairly regular intervals for hours at a time -which pissed me off so i started walking, looking for the source of the sound.
laughed loud when i saw the irrigation system!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm
coelacanth∅:

(isn't unami a word i know from sushi restaurants?)
  Swag For Life Member 7:49pm
WR:

うまみ umami, can mean taste or flavor. As a nick name I can't say of that is what it is from. Several related shades of meaning on that one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm

Umami is one of your five basic taste senses
  Swag For Life Member 7:50pm

Unagi is eel.

Boston-to-Providence At my distance that seems close, but there may subtle differences known to New Englanders.
Avatar 8:08pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

It's understandable that people are worried about themselves but for so many people the worry ends there
Avatar 8:09pm
Jesse Kaminsky:

@TDK60, it's very close on a grand scale but I think the quality of life is nicer here, our current situation was coming to an end so we just kind of slipped south a little. Strange time to move to be sure, we couldn't see the new place in person until we moved in
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm

It certainly makes the field of virology more challenging. Virtually impossible to contain a moving and evolving pathogen. Seems easy for people to turn their backs on that.

I've heard there are people buying homes in our area, sight unseen. (Not speculators)
Avatar 8:33pm

Easy to ignore if no one you know is sick. I've seen some people who seem to not wear masks as some sort of rebellion. It's not rebellion.

Avatar 9:14pm

Update: my new studio has doors on it unlike the last one which was more open plan. The good news is that I can lock my cat out now if he's acting up but the bad news is that he's very mad at me for it

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm

I know!I went there with a friend who lived on the LES and we got stoned in the bushes before we went in to look at the tapestries. He had to go to work downtown and left me there. I stayed till the place closed and was so high I got lost and found myself walking onto the freeway that goes into the Bronx. I came to my senses enough to get myself back on a train downtown, but wound up getting off at 165th street in Harlem. That was real fun.

Wish I could go further someday, but most northern trip in the east was when I got off a train at a remote rail maintenance shed in Quebec near Labrador border with friends to backpack/sled-pack around in the woods. When we returned to same track spot days later, the expected train went right by us. They'd not seen us in the nearly full dark there at the not-regular stop, but a crew member suddenly remembered it was pick-up day. The train stopped a ways beyond us -- you could smell the braking , then it baaaaaaacked up slowly to git us.
