Favoriting Bryce: Playlist from June 5, 2020 Favoriting

I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Krys O.:

@Rory: I work in an area of Essex County, NJ that is 80% white and most of the folks I've seen in my first week back at work since being furloughed do not wear masks. They are also people who do not shovel their sidewalks when it snows. I'd have to do further research into other non-altruistic behaviors those people have, but I don't want to get near them.

As others have said, really enjoying and appreciating this show today, thank you. Throwing out a question to all, any tips for how to get better acquainted with the wide world of ragas, starting from knowing nothing? Alway enjoy hearing them, but where & how to start exploring? It's a bit overwhelming!

@Kit: Yes, I'd like some suggestions, too.
Avatar 2:34pm
adrian elaine:

@Kit - this was how I've felt too. I just picked an artist or two that I really liked and then went in two directions - 1)are there accompanyists (like the tabla player) their records that plays on other artists' albums and check those out and 2)if there's a raga i particularly like, starting looking for other versions of it - Discogs was very useful for the former, some random internet searching was helpful for the latter

mic_impedance:

Way, way back in 1970s high school, I checked out a good book on Indian classical music -- got into the scales and forms and everything. But... I'm a blank on the title, and though I recall Ravi Shankar as being involved, I can't find anything on a quick search. So I suppose I am of little help. But thank you Bryce and Skeleton Crew! Another fine Friday afternoon.
