A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

@Martinibomb decades of anecdotal evidence (some of it personal) indicates that, yes, in certain contexts. I don’t think this is one of them though! Radio’s varied inherent illusions are what I’ve signed up for. Especially Thursdays 9-noon NYC time.

@Trouble Yes, I think I have! Also, many years ago, we ate up at a place called The Liberal Club in (maybe?) Fall River? Pretty sure I was the only actual liberal in that place!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am
Trouble:

No apologies because it's digital, @martini bomb, it's all good. My apology is that i am limited to only digital and i have a lot of music i wish i could play that is on vinyl. btw we have been ripping things from the world of music, lots of time spent doing that. sigh, still not enough
  9:42am

@Mike & D I vinyl seems expensive for some musicians to produce. So I struggle with how to play their work in the context of vinyl. U know what I mean?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am
Mike & Dusty:

@Martinibomb Yeah, totally, i think things have changed, and i’ve seen some DJs in club contexts using digital and still just flat-out ruling. For me part of the context is that I was a kid in the ’70s, so for me everything start(ed) with vinyl being What Music Looked Like. But i’ve used an iPod when DJing for songs that were just never on vinyl. The song’s the thing, ultimately. (so decree i, powerless ape-thing of the 21st century.)

Lovely vibe today. So happy that you are you and that you create such a soundscape for us! If there is a heaven, it would sound something like this.

Jim the Poet, WCW is alright but I do miss the glory days of the WWF. I mean, King Kong Bundy vs. Andre the Giant? Need I say more.

@MNDave: Does the MN stand for Minneapolis?
  11:03am
JakeGould:

@ItzallHear: Yeah… William Carlos Williams was nothing more than a pencil neck geek… A grit eatin' freak… a scum suckin', pea head with a lousy physique… Who wrote lovingly about his wife and life.

@JakeGould - yes. I'm safe, but it is a raw feeling here right now, understandably.

@Mark R: I have heard good things about that book. You are enjoying?

Yeah it's really good. I like the way the stories intertwine. There are about 5 separate sets of characters, and trees are the thing that connect them all.

@karlward: “Cold wave is a loose music genre that emerged in Europe the late 1970s, characterized by its detached lyrical tone, use of early electronic music instruments and a minimalist approach and style. It emerged from punk rock bands who, influenced by early electronic groups such as Kraftwerk, made use of affordable portable synthesizers such as the Korg MS-20.” en.wikipedia.org...

‘The term “cold wave” appeared in the 26 November 1977 issue of UK weekly music paper Sounds: The caption of its cover picture, showing Kraftwerk's Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider was “New musick: The cold wave.”’ upload.wikimedia.org...
