Irene, by "eons" I mean, I was a teen taken as a guest to WBAI during the Bob Fass show. Walker was playing live! Wavy Gravy was hanging out too. Summer 1967, what a time that was, wow.

I heard you were going to get a heat wave in the Bay Area, Granny. Hey did you see that huge fire on Fisherman's Wharf? I was glad the Musee Mechanic and the rest of the are weren't too heavily damaged.

@Irene I'm in Portland Maine. Would love to visit the other Portland someday.
Avatar 12:48pm

@Melinda. Yes, amusing to say the least. This is example of seven degrees of separation. Where were you in Vermont? Portland Maine's downtown is lovely especially the seaside and docks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm

Oh! How could I forget! My mom was from Portland, specifically she grew up on Long Island across the bay. I was thinking West coast because I just responded to Granny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm

Irene—somehow i hadn't heard of that fire, however i am relieved it did not damage the Musee Mechanique. That place is a personally beloved treasure to me (though it felt more romantic when it was at the Cliff House)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Irene Trudel:

melinda, it was extremely rural when she lived there. One winter the bay froze solid and two of her aunts walked across the ice to visit. There was a news article and photo too! My granparents lived for a long time inFalmouth Foreside, and their street ended in a perfect little cove, great for young kids like me to discover tide pools. A beautiful area.
Avatar 12:59pm

melinda, i once camped out on peaks island at those obsolete military bunkers only to get kicked off the second night, having to catch the 5am ferry back into town. still pretty great, though, to get to hang out there. my buddy from maine & i were on the road, driving up from athens, ga.
