@sphere: Since I can't bring you a copy, here's a bday book rec (copied from Modern World yesterday): Beneath the Rising by Premee Mohammed. A rip-roaring horror-adventure-coming-of-age story that ALSO does some amazing work decolonizing the Cthulhu mythos and the Lovecraft legacy and the whole enterprise of horror fiction. A pretty intense but deft and humanly characterized exposure of white privilege's usually unquestioned place in fiction. Also, some really cool monsters.

It's the book I bought in Word Jersey City the weekend before everything ended when we were in JC for the end of Marathon, too.

@Jake: I work in e-book creation in nonprofit scholarly publishing. I see a lot of continued Unicode problems!

Many sites don't store information going back as far as WFMU playlists. And Java/JS refusal to handle 32bit unicode code points properly in UTF-8 keeps messing things up
