One afternoon, after lunch we went with my grandmother back to their old neighborhood in East L.A. to go shopping. We went to a Mexican butcher shop that had a pigs head on a platter sitting on a shelf. This to me was beyond belief, so I got the small brick of unchewed gum out of my pocket and shoved it into the pigs eye.

I got a whole chuck roast for the same price that I cooked yesterday in the front yard. Chresti won't touch the stuff, but then she's not a Mexican.
	11:27pm Matt from New Orleans: I’ve been eating a lot of pork shoulder lately. I made cuban lechon asado last week and smoked one today.

	11:30pm CC: Of course washing meat off with your bare hands is risky... you should wear gloves... don't forget about the process of osmosis!!!!!

	📉 11:32pm chresti: I like beef jerky, once in awhile. You don't have to wash meat if you cook it.
	11:33pm coelacanth∅: does "chuck steak" come from chuck roast? chuck steak is what we ate frequently when i was little. it was very tough and fatty. i liked it except i wouldn't swallow big hunks of food, and couldn't chew it down -which was a problem because we were required to eat everything on our plates, and not waste ANYTHING. i literally would store grizzle in my cheeks until after dinner was over.

(and i'm assuming the unbearable things like kidneys were free) ...my reasoning would've been different. i would've chosen a decent cut of meat 2X/week over terrible ones 4-5X.

One afternoon, after lunch we went with my grandmother back to their old neighborhood in East L.A. to go shopping. We went to a Mexican butcher shop that had a pigs head on a platter sitting on a shelf. This to me was beyond belief, so I got the small brick of unchewed gum out of my pocket and shoved it into the pigs eye.

	11:33pm coelacanth∅: does "chuck steak" come from chuck roast? chuck steak is what we ate frequently when i was little. it was very tough and fatty. i liked it except i wouldn't swallow big hunks of food, and couldn't chew it down -which was a problem because we were required to eat everything on our plates, and not waste ANYTHING. i literally would store grizzle in my cheeks until after dinner was over.
